The acid test for any two competing socioeconomic systems is which side needs to build a wall to keep people from escaping? That’s the bad one!

Musk has just banned live reporting and basically all tweeting about stuff that's happening. All so he could justify ex post facto banning someone he publicly promised not to ban for violating a policy he hadn't invented yet.

Twitter suspended the account following Elon's jet but not the one following Jeff Bezos' jet. Even though they do the same thing and are run by the same guy. Why does @elonmusk hate free speech when the speech is about Elon Musk?

On Sunday I emailed Ella Irwin, Twitter's "Product & Trust leader," to ask if this purported leaked screenshot was real. She hasn't responded. Given that @elonjet has now been permanently suspended, I guess we can assume it was. xitter.cf/JxckSweeney/status/160…

Hey remember when Trump let prisoner Maria Butina go home to Russia and not swapping her for Paul Whelan? It’s almost as if he was on team Russia.

wow. did you even read the blog post? We never denied de-amplifying things. In fact we made clear that we do rank. We defined exactly what we meant by “shadow banning” (b/c there are many definitions) and made very clear that we didn’t do *that*…

New Twitter policy is freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach. Negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted & demonetized, so no ads or other revenue to Twitter. You won’t find the tweet unless you specifically seek it out, which is no different from rest of Internet.

Calling it: @OpenAI's ChatGPT / GPT-3 API is going to fundamentally disrupt contact centers. I dug into this over the weekend with @twilio's Flex contact center platform and built out a demo of agent assist with GPT-3:

Big if true. Looking forward to seeing the data release proving this; it seems twitter would have to update its algorithmic amplification paper that found the opposite across 7 countries in 2021. cdn.cms-twdigitalassets.com/…

Just one bit of acknowledgement that you maybe didn’t handle this brilliantly, after which you could reassure everyone that you’d listen and be responsible. Everything would get 1000x times better overnight. But you’d rather destroy everything than be embarrassed for a second. – at San Francisco, CA

12 years ago, Twitter’s office used a Mac Mini to tunnel into the servers. One day, an IT guy found it in the closet. “Anyone know who owns this?” “Unplug it. Someone will show up.” Everyone lost access to servers. Huge crisis. It became known as the “Load Bearing Mac Mini.”

Watching crypto sink after hitting an economic iceburg, seeing the GOP eat pavement after getting exactly what they wanted, and seeing emperor Elon has no clothes is too much schadenfreude after a 6 years of bad news. Now I'm paranoid there's something lurking around the corner – at Austin, TX

Literally a week ago today, Musk posted a link to a fake news website (that once suggested Hillary Clinton was dead and had been replaced by a body double). Worse, he then deleted that tweet without explanation or apology. But sure, his “mission” is accurate information. 🤷🏽‍♂️
Twitter needs to become by far the most accurate source of information about the world. That’s our mission.

I’m so sorry to see all the #TwitterLayoffs. It’s not fun, these are people’s livelihoods. If there’s anything I can do for anyone at Twitter, Stripe, or Lyft, I’m hiring and my DMs are open 💔

my advice to anyone who wants to learn to code because they feel like their white collar field isn't going to get them to where they want: don't become a software engineer, become an accountant/lawyer/actuary/policy analyst/economist that can also code you'll kill
