“The children don’t know where to go, and neither do the displaced.” A reporter stands in Gaza City as the first storm of winter breaks over the Strip on November 6, 2026, flooding the worn-out tents of families who have nowhere else to sleep. By dawn, entire camps were under water, from the Gaza port and al-Shati camp to the camp at al-Yarmouk stadium and Jabalia and Beit Lahia further north. Rain poured through nylon and thin fabric, soaking mattresses, blankets and clothes, and Gaza’s Civil Defence received more than 1,500 distress calls within hours. In northern Gaza, two people were injured when a wall of a building already gutted by Israeli bombardment collapsed in the downpour.
This is the fourth winter Gaza’s displaced have spent in tents. The Israeli occupation destroyed their homes and still restricts the entry of tents, tarps, insulation, caravans and building materials a year into the ceasefire. Around 162,000 tents need replacing, more than a million people live in displacement sites at risk of flooding, and the winter supplies aid agencies have cover only about 18 percent of families in need.

🚨 A NIGHTMARE FOR WOUNDED PALESTINIANS IN GAZA.
As heavy rain threatens displacement camps, injured people living in tents face life-threatening conditions.
Those using wheelchairs, crutches or external fixators cannot simply escape rising floodwater or move through mud. With Israel having destroyed their homes, they have nowhere safe to go.

We are drowning in the rain right now. Please help my family buy tarpaulins and wooden beams to reinforce our tents and protect us from the storm. Your support could make the difference between keeping our children safe and losing what little shelter we have left.

🚨 JUST HOURS INTO THE FIRST HEAVY RAINS OF WINTER, floodwater has already reached alarming levels, pouring into the worn out tents of displaced Palestinian families across Gaza.
This is the FOURTH winter these families have been forced to spend in makeshift tents after Israel destroyed their homes. Within just hours of rainfall, their shelters are already being overwhelmed by rising water.
Gaza has virtually no functioning drainage infrastructure. Municipalities lack the heavy machinery, pumps, fuel and essential equipment needed to manage flooding, while Israel continues to restrict the entry of critical equipment and supplies.
The situation is catastrophic, and this is only the beginning of winter. What awaits these families in the months ahead?

Rains flooded the tents of displaced people in Gaza, exacerbating the suffering of families displaced by the occupation and whose homes were destroyed, to face cold and water inside tents that do not provide the minimum requirements for protection.
