My hot take is that TNG, not TOS, made Star Trek into a true cultural phenomenon.
Without TNG, it's just a fondly remembered, often prescient, occasionally schlocky 1960s sci-fi series and sequel movies. But TNG reinvented and elevated the show, creating the franchise.
Pretty soon going to France will be like going back in time. Everyone will be watching .3gp super low-res videos and all the websites will look like AOL from the 90s

I had a weird dream about the iPhone Duo. I dreamt that the box just came with a bunch of components, so I started putting it together without thinking. It was way harder than I thought, so I went back to the Apple Store for help, but they didn’t know how to assemble it either.

Witnessed this first hand at the Apple Store in Stonestown today! Even the store employee was excited. Great to see it.
I have not seen so many normal people completely enamored by a new Apple product in years. The swarms around the Duo tables at Apple Stores are making me so happy. People get it. It’s not just the next gen iPhone and it’s not just another foldable. Even the one demo unit at Best Buy had a crowd of kids all around it just entranced. This product and the whole experience around it remind me of the old days in such a special way.
Unpopular opinion: Halloween is an occult play, a commercial morbidity, and celebrates an attraction to the grotesque. It trains the heart to delight in degradation, cruelty (trick-or-treat!), fear, and uncleanness.
Worst holiday imo, can't wait for Christmas.
