I’ve seen a number of economists now saying when they go shopping there’s other people shopping and doubting reports from charities to hint at no cost of living crisis. We know poverty has grown to 1 in 7 adults

i’d be deserving of love & care if i could ever just finally get genuinely better—body & mind. i’m too difficult to love when i’m being constantly crippled traumatized distressed in agony without reprieve but when things are okay i’m really nice. i just don’t know they’ll ever be

sounds way more self-pitying than intended lol. what sucks is that i genuinely believed i was & that i would be loved even when it was difficult and it sucks that i turned out to be wrong about that. bc now i have decades of healing before i’ll ever have anything to offer again😭

sometimes you just gotta sit with the fact that after all of the trauma you actually will never be the same and it did change you fundamentally and there’s no going back

i can heal as much as i can and i can try to become a new version of myself and that’s good! it’s not that its hopeless. but i’ll never be the same, and i miss the version of me before.

It is not inevitable that you catch Covid. It is, however, extremely difficult to avoid it. This thread is not an admonishment to anyone who’s caught it in this round. It’s to help those who feel it’s hopeless because everyone is catching it right now. 🧵

Inspired by the amazing Beth Dobbin and the woeful uptake of ME/CFS training by healthcare professionals in the NHS, I've been working on trying to consolidate everything policymakers and open-minded healthcare professionals need to know into a five-minute video. If you think it's of use, please feel free to share it with whomever. šŸ’š Please remember, I'm bedbound and using my very limited spoons on paced advocacy work instead of hobbies I can no longer do, because I passionately believe in change for all of us. Grace and constructive engagement are always appreciated. šŸ’š #MEcfs #LongCovid #FND #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis #NHS #PublicHealth #MEawareness

i was so desperate to not see myself as disabled that i constantly injured myself and put myself in weeks long PEM flares for the first 2-3 years of having LC. it’s such a devastating thing even just emotionally to feel your body fail you like that. physically it’s incomparable
I felt pressured to push through this illness and ā€œwalk my way out of itā€ so I decided to do 10,000 steps and I ended up crying in a field and had to get picked up. I was then in PEM for a solid 3 months from that walk alone. Don’t listen to Drs on here telling you to exercise.

Please stop using other chronically ill people as examples of what someone should be capable of doing. I’m glad your friend with the same condition works full time, exercises, and has a great social life. That has absolutely nothing to do with how sick someone else is.

it’s literally fucking horrific. I would trade the last 3 years for death so I never had to experience the level of loss+neglect+abandonment I have now my declining disabilities are visible, dismissal which will only be an obstacle to ever recovering in my ā€œlifeā€ā€”NOT validationšŸ™„

only worse and worse as you decline—so not only does it become MUCH more likely you’ll be left in an even worse condition after trying a new med, as u say in OP! but also means when you deteriorate untreated for too long, the risk of trying any treatments becomes unjustifiable🄲

LOVE wasting my 20s + losing my LIFE to never being able to even TRY likely-lifesaving meds like LDN—or any treatments/procedures w extended recovery, esp surgery—bc I simply don’t+will NEVER have anyone to take care of me + literally everything for me for weeks of 100% bedrest😭

which is also very clearly why pacing + never doing (necessary) tasks outside my capacity/capability/tolerance on my own + avoiding PEM in order to recover that way has also literally never been a possibility - ALSO leading me directly to my premature death🤩 how fucking FUN!!!!!

No healthy person will ever understand how terrifying it is having to try random drugs in hopes they might help you, while knowing they could equally make you 10x more ill. But the alternative is just stay ill.
