Economics is an allocation problem.
Priority, spend, and compute is allocated towards companies actively reducing some of our largest costs as an economy:
Manufacturing; software or hardware.
Creative Writing (for commercial or personal purposes) doesn’t make the cut.
Replying to @annapanart
This is cuz Creative Writing cannot be a) benchmarked with great accuracy due to it’s subjective nature beyond a certain threshold of legibility making it b) difficult for an investor (their core stakeholder) to compare it with another company.
Saying this as someone who wants better, more creative models when it comes to writing. As well as more productive ones.
Having spent my career in the Gulf, I really love the balance of restraint and boldness in Pentagram’s new Design Doha identity!
The thin strokes leave room for imagery but the evocative colors give it immediate visual intrigue, with or without a background.
The Swiss blocks at the bottom, RTL and LTR are the major keys for me. Love seeing bilingual design done right!

I like the Disney × Gustaf Westman collection. It brings these iconic characters into objects people can wear and use in their daily lives.
It’s also a great idea for gifters! Maybe someone’s a lifelong Disney fan, but you don't wanna gift them something generic, right? So you can gift them something from this collection instead!
And for folks who love Disney but aren’t quite as into it these days, a cup or a chair is a nice way to bring some whimsy back into the house. Or office.
Especially for those suffering under "millennial gray". Not a Disney fan, but this is cool.

This is what’s keeping founders from leveling up.
Delay that gratification. Have that difficult conversation. See that long horizon experiment through. Keep at it.
The more contexts you switch in your work, the less bandwidth you’ll have for when a true signal reaches you. Delegate ruthlessly.

Constant context switching. Work, life, personal, and the many “tabs” within each.

i will be referring back to this for years
great post
Almost no one understands the radical time scarcity of early stage founders.
Here is the math on how spending a couple days on the wrong thing can trigger weeks of treading water to stay afloat:

The folks who:
- are low agency
- easily distracted
- have 0 desire to put in an effort
Were as replaceable before AI as they will be after AI. I have yet to see a this type of person succeed because of AI, but I have seen the opposite augment themselves.
I think AI gives these folk a strong adversary, but the only real change is when (acceleration) and by whom (AI vs Human)
Four Seasons’ New World Icons private jet itinerary is genuinely incredible curation. I love the taste behind it
It’s Langkawi not Bali; Hong Kong not Seoul; Anguilla not Turks & Caicos; Jaipur not Mumbai. There’s a very clever subversion here, but the regulars like Los Cabos and Venice are still there for the usual magic.
I think this is gonna work really well for a certain affluent audience.

We need to have an honest conversation about the guise of productivity.
AI agents are a symptom, but we’ve been obsessed as a whole with doing things that look productive without getting anywhere.
Hustle culture was yet another manifestation of this.

Still thinking about this post. Human creative innovation is not spontaneous but is actually a byproduct of solving problems. Art deco (for example) was not some randomly-inspired force of will to create beauty; it happened because metallurgy became just advanced enough to create everything out of metal, and because zoning laws required skyscrapers to have a stepped shape at the top.
This is why top-down efforts at changing our civilizational aesthetic (like those guys building the giant Greek statues) don’t work. They don’t change the “problem” we’re solving as a civilization, which is the actual source of the bleak & dreary surroundings we find ourselves in
When technology becomes more efficient, people tend to consume more of it. Jevon's Paradox talks about this.
How does it apply to AI?
Would more intelligence be "consumed" the cheaper/more pervasive it gets?

told my european friend i was a techno optimist and he responded that he prefers house music
As Artificial Intelligence proliferates, a clear consensus is emerging:
The true bottlenecks of augmented productivity seem to be taste, timing, cognitive load, and systems thinking.
What profession equips one with all four?

1/ When we looked at the economics of AGI, the key policy challenge was immediately clear:
AI drastically lowers the cost of execution for anything easy to verify.
For everything else, verification is the bottleneck.

A forest by Klimt
By eliminating the sky and horizon, Klimt removes classic perspective.
A small central clearing and vertical trunks are all he needs to create profound depth.
Shoutout to Handy. Have been using Parakeet 0.6B Unified for the past few months and it works like a charm.
