I used to think adoption is a great way to make a family and match a child of unwilling parents with willing parents. Then I tuned into #adopteetwitter, and had my own child at the same time.

Told my therapist about the toxic BS directed at adoptees here. She shook her head and told me that even the animals on her farm come with papers documenting their lineages back at least 3 generations and that it’s horrifying humans aren’t given at least that.

The friends who I intend to move forward with are those who are willing to do the same level of introspection and self-work, who are willing to hear criticism and who will call me on my shit when needed, and who understand we need to function as healthy individuals first.
