ProPublica documented 519 U.S. citizens detained by immigration agents. Sixty-three were detained while recording; 36 were held at least a day without being able to contact a lawyer or family.
DHS says its operations are “highly targeted” and insists it isn't arresting citizens. Then explain these cases. Congress wants the counts, the records, and the rules agents use to verify citizenship.
Some detentions involved allegations of obstructing officers, and detention alone doesn't prove misconduct. That's why we investigate.
Apparently DHS has plenty of statistics for its press releases, but can't find a spreadsheet column for Americans it puts in handcuffs.

Every place I go, the doctors come up to me and say, this is not what we do as doctors. We don't sue 700 of our patients. I've never met a doctor who sued 700 patients.
But here's the thing that really gets me. He goes to Washington, DC, and he takes health care away from 60,000 Kansans… What’s going to happen with those people? Are they going to be sued or arrested?
