For 5 years of my life (ages 8-13), my home address was 1776 Avenida Mariscal López, the US Embassy in Asunción, Paraguay. It was very moving to return to that address today as Deputy Secretary of State. The iconic midcentury house I grew up in was demolished several years ago and replaced with a much larger modern Embassy office building so it was disorienting to address the Embassy staff on the site of what had been my childhood home. I was touched that they gave me a small piece of stone from the original Embassy staircase—the very stairs my father walked up almost every day on his way to work during those five years. 🇺🇸🤝🇵🇾

Palabra guaraní del día:
Apukaparei.

ALT An Artemis II mission poster shows four astronauts standing side by side in orange flight suits and black helmets against a dark background. A large, detailed view of the Moon fills the upper portion of the image. Below the astronauts, text reads: “10 Days | 685,000 Miles Around the Moon for All Humanity.” At the bottom, the title “Artemis II” is displayed in large letters, along with the names and roles listed: “Reid Wiseman — Commander, Victor Glover — Pilot, Christina Koch — Mission Specialist I, Jeremy Hansen — Mission Specialist II.” The NASA and Artemis logos appear at the top of the poster.
