1st reason to read thro the whole Bible regularly: We cherry pick our favorite ideas from the Bible to create a theology of our making, not God's. Reading the entirety regularly confronts us with teaching we don't like and keeps us listening to God rather than just our own hearts

An inspiring reflection on a sermon of C.S Lewis from 1939 from @malcolmguite. May it give courage to all who listen as it has done to me.

What Bible verse would you tape to your mirror to see daily when you brush your teeth in the morning?

Here's a marvellous Advent blessing, from a friend today:
All the Lord’s blessings on you and yours, as we navigate these shadowlands—still illumined in Him, and held in His good purpose, in between His once and future comings.

Take a moment and appreciate the historical aspects of this election. It doesn’t eliminate the seriously problematic aspects, but these historical moments also reveal God’s grace to us.
Christians, I’m begging you, for your good, for our good, allow the gospel to be the lens through who you view the news and the world. Please do not let profit driven organizations be the lens through which you see…anything. Not the gospel, not your neighbor, not your church.

Your 2020 Bible reading plan is not a task to complete but an invitation to listen and trust and rest and enjoy our God.
BCC, I pray that you begin 2020 committing to spending time with God every day this year. It starts today, in Genesis, where you will read and meditate on how God brings order to chaos, made humans in his image, and how humans chose instead to define good & evil for themselves.
This year I’m using Read Scripture. It’s by The Bible Project and they do a great job of explaining what’s going on in books and certain words by giving short videos to help deepen your understanding of what you are reading. apps.apple.com/us/app/read-s…

I'm sad for Kanye. I'm thrilled he's a brother in the Lord, but I'm sad that Christian leaders are placing him on large platforms as a new Christian b/c of his secular celebrity. There's a reason the Bible warns not to make novices leaders (1 Tim. 3:6).

This podcast for Advent is really good. The pace is appropriate. It’s written for kids, but I’m benefitting from it. Meditating on the divine taking on flesh is shaping. open.spotify.com/episode/7DP…
