If we could get announcers to talk about turnover luck instead of 4th down decisions then football fans would be smarter about football.

This is a great example on why you shouldn't use power ratings for playoff selection because everything he says is correct, but the results on the field have to matter. I have BYU just outside the top 10 of power ratings BUT they are 1st in my resume score after their ND win.
Replying to @spshoot
@spshoot loves UCF +6.5 over BYU "BYU is not a Top 10 team, guys. Not yet. They had a great win. And we applaud that win. But they were still 11-point dogs... at home."

This might be one of the best on-campus interactive videos I’ve seen from a football program. @NUFBFamily sent its specialists around campus to find hidden kicking talent among Northwestern students. 😂 The reactions and kicks did not disappoint. 🎥: @NUFBFamily

If you've felt like the gap between the top college football teams and other good teams has felt smaller this season, you're correct based off of opponent-adjusted net EPA/play Here is the gap between the #1 team in net EPA/play and the #15 team by season (all through 7 weeks): •2019: +0.23 •2021: +0.17 •2022: +0.17 •2023: +0.19 •2024: +0.16 •2025: +0.21 •2026: +0.10(!)

We are seeing significant compression at the top of CFB this season, but before you run out an ascribe it to your favorite potential cause it's important to note: it's not actually a trend. We've had years like this before and the prior two seasons were not like it at all.

Here is (part) of Central Michigan head coach Matt Drinkall's quote in opposition to the proposed 24-team College Football Playoff:
Just got off the weekly press conference with Central Michigan head coach Matt Drinkall. We asked him about the proposed 24-team Playoff, and now we have about 10 minutes of quotes to transcribe. Hope to be able to share that soon.

not too long ago (in 2023) 9 points was basically the difference between #1 and #5. today 9 points is the difference between #1 and #14 teapaw.org/cfbNate/status/1699397…
Week 2 Composite Ratings! Seeing a clear top 3: Georgia, Ohio St, Bama Clear #4: Michigan Then a whole mess of teams from 5-13 that are only separated by 2.5 pts @ESPN_BillC @bcfremeau @beta_rank_fb @KFordRatings @CFBWinningEdge

How much has the talent spread around in college football now that three or four teams can't hoard it all? This week, 92% of all games have a Vegas line of 2 scores or less. A decade ago, same week, that number was just 65%. That's an enormous jump.

Based on the stats the games produced, Texas had a 77.8% chance of going 2-0 against OU and Florida and a 1.2% chance of going 0-2. I commend the Horns for expanding our statistical horizons and showing us amazing things are possible in the world.

"John Mateer is in the zone right now" First time an announcer has said that all year. Sounds like a jinx if you ask me.

And....
Brutal pick-six from John Mateer and Kentucky goes up 21-14 at Oklahoma late:

Wait, I was wrong. With bama, its actually an 11-team SEC Circle of Chaos! Since the SEC began in 1933, only 20 seasons have produced an 11-team circle. And 2026 did it by Week 6, the earliest ever. Chaos!
