My hot take? Both Iran and Israel will have to learn to play ball with the Sunni bloc/Mecca Alliance and this will ultimately be good for the region.
Israel's new government will likely start bettering ties with Egypt and Jordan and that's the right path
Senior officials from Iran, Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia have begun a four-way meeting in Tehran, hosted by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei.
Participants include Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir, Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman and Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin.
Urdu isn’t our native tongue. Most diaspora Punjabis speak Punjabi at home, while Mohajirs retain Urdu as their household language. Shoutout to Punjabis keeping our mother tongue alive. We owe Urdu no linguistic allegiance.

This is obviously where it ends, despite the ups and downs in between.
I believe the region is changing forever, and all local powers are posturing to secure their assets and chokepoints.
In my opinion, this is what a post-US West Asia eventually looks like.
Remember, China began using its influence towards this outcome in 2023.
Iran has allowed the region to renegotiate their US bases.
Netanyahu’s announcement about potentially using crypto to circumvent banking sanctions signals that he anticipates sanctions if he survives the election tomorrow.
And, yes, a regional settlement will require a Palestinian state.
Keep an eye on the end destination and ignore the daily drama if you want to stay sane and see through the fog of war.
🇮🇷🇸🇦 Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on cooperating with members of the Mecca Alliance:
"Tehran’s hosting of senior military and security officials from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye is a key development toward establishing regional diplomacy.
Lasting stability and security in the Middle East can only be achieved by relying on the region’s own countries, and this meeting could pave the way for broader cooperation."
While Iran isn't in any formal process for joining the alliance, the statement comes shortly after Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, said that the whole Muslim world should act as a united front.

🗳️ What could an Israel led by Gadi Eisenkot actually change?
The former IDF chief is a leading challenger to Benjamin Netanyahu. But becoming prime minister depends on election results and the ability to assemble a governing coalition. Leading in the polls does not guarantee governing.
Here’s what matters beyond the headlines:
• Background: Eisenkot comes from a Moroccan Jewish family. His heritage reflects Israel’s diverse population, but ancestry alone tells us little about the policies a leader will pursue.
• Personal loss: His son and two nephews were killed in the Gaza war. That experience is part of his story, alongside decades of military leadership.
• Military service: He supports expanding conscription among ultra-Orthodox men, challenging the broad exemptions that have divided Israeli society.
• Settler violence: He has publicly opposed violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. How that translates into enforcement would be an important measure of any government he leads.
• Palestinian statehood: Despite the “centrist” label, he currently opposes establishing a Palestinian state. Replacing Netanyahu would not automatically revive a two-state negotiating process.
• Hamas and Iran: He supports dismantling Hamas’s military capabilities and preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Differences over strategy should not be confused with abandoning those objectives.
• US relations: He emphasizes the strategic importance of the US–Israel relationship and rebuilding support across both American political parties.
The educational takeaway: “centrist” describes a politician’s place within their own country’s political landscape. It does not necessarily mean moderate positions on every issue.
An Eisenkot government could bring changes in domestic priorities, coalition partners, accountability and diplomatic approach. Those changes could matter considerably.
But a new prime minister would not, by itself, guarantee de-escalation. Watch the coalition agreement, appointments and policy decisions—not just the campaign labels.

While at the time of its inception it was presented by the three member countries as a combat alliance to fight common threats, Makkah Defence Alliance is now increasingly turning into a diplomatic forum.

Today’s visit should be used to lay the foundations of a “West Asian Security Link"
WASL would be an inclusive regional network built on non-aggression, mutual assurance and shared prosperity.
Security in our region cannot be imported. It must be built together, by its own people

It goes without saying that during this very high tension time, this is a really big deal.
These are very high level individuals. The Saudi defense minister is not going to casually show up to Tehran unless something is going on.
I'd guess they're gonna talk about:
- Some plan for mediations with the US
- Drawing red lines for if active conflict breaks out again
- The Saudi-Yemeni war
It also goes to show Asim Munir's earlier trip wasn't necessarily a failure as it was depicted in some media outlets last week
Ali Bagheri Kani, Deputy Secretary of the SNSC, says that high level officials from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey will soon travel to Tehran for a summit.
The idea was proposed by Asim Munir in his trip last week to meet with Iranian officials.
Pakistan will be represented by Chief of the Army Staff Asim Munir.
Saudi Arabia will be represented by Minister of Defense Khalid bin Salman.
Turkey will be represented by director of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın.
Iran will be represented by Secretary of the SNSC Mohsen Rezaei
Reports in the Iranian media say this meeting is planned for today (Monday)

HRH Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Minister of Defense, leads the Kingdom’s delegation to the meetings that will be held today in Tehran, capital of Iran, between Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries and officials from the Islamic Republic of Iran, with participation of Field Marshall Asim Munir, Pakistani Chief of Army Staff and Ibrahim Kalin, Director of the Turkish National Intelligence.
Representatives of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries will meet with the H.E. President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, and H.E. the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Mohsen Rezaei.
The visit comes as part of the continued efforts by the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries for de-escalation between parties involved in the ongoing crisis, and promoting dialogue and diplomatic solutions, in support of the mediation efforts carried out by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The visit underscore the pivotal role of Makkah Joint Defense Agreement countries in reinforcing regional security and stability, and working with all countries in the region to achieve that goal.
