LATEST for @theparaguaypost After Ueno Bank Goes Under, Paraguay’s President Peña Faces Impeachment Paraguay is facing its worst crisis in years after the dramatic collapse of ueno bank — a digital lender with nearly 3m clients and some $850m in public deposits — locked half the population from their accounts and left businesses, workers, and pensioners reeling. Hundreds of protesters gathered for the second night running outside Congress chanting “We want our money” and “Santi to Tacumbú,” referring to the president, Santiago Peña, and the notorious Asunción jail. Peña held shares in ueno holding, a sister company of the bank, until last year. theparaguaypost.com/p/ueno-b…

In Taipei and DC, questions swirl around the woman in pink. Linked to what the New York Times calls a “Chinese spy plot.” How did she get so close to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang? NYT says “Trump was briefed and took no action.” We speak with @paulmozur on @OutFrontCNN – at Taipei City, Taiwan

Too clever by half. He correctly notes that Ukraine cannot give up its fortress belt because that'd give the Russians a "straight shot into Kyiv." Yet he insists the war is just about 11% of territory. No, the lie is in his explanation: Putin wants the 11% at the negotiating table because he cannot take it on the battlefield; and he wants it because it gives him another opportunity to make a play for Kyiv at a later date. The Russians don't want to end the war, they want the U.S. to create the more amenable conditions for the continuation of the war in future. The tragedy of Rubio is that he's in better command of the facts than anyone else in this administration but he nonetheless ends up acting a mouthpiece for policies he knows are wrong.
Rubio: The war in Ukraine is about one region, Donetsk. Russia occupies all but about 11% of it. Ukraine's line there is its last defensible one: beyond it, a straight shot into Kyiv. Russia demands all of Donetsk, including that line, as its definition of victory. 1/

US lifts sanctions on Delcy’s brother, who heads an illegal legislature that took over from the democratically elected legislature the regime threw out. Washington still technically recognizes the democratically elected legislature — which happened because of US pressure.

Venezuela's "silence is devastating" to Maduro's claims that he is immune from U.S. criminal charges, prosecutors argue in new filing. Unlike in other cases, where @delcyrodriguezv has asserted sovereign immunity for herself, lawyers for 🇻🇪have made no such claim for Maduro.
