📍Nicosia ~ Pleased to welcome the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova @MihaiPopsoi in his first official visit to 🇨🇾.
This visit follows the visit of President Christodoulides to Chișinău in May 2026, and the visits of 🇲🇩 President Sandu to Cyprus in 2025 and in early 2026.
Today’s meeting was an opportunity to review our cooperation and reflect on its future.
Productive discussions on:
🔹Further enhancing our bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Today’s inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Moldova, in Cyprus, is an important step forward.
🔹Moldova’s European path. 🇨🇾 has consistently supported Moldova’s European aspirations.
This was translated into concrete deliverables, during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the 🇪🇺. #Cyprus will continue to be a steadfast advocate of #Moldova’s path towards full EU membership.
🔹Regional developments with a focus on #Middle East and #Ukraine.

Ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών @CKombos παρουσίασε σήμερα, ενώπιον της Κοινοβουλευτικής Επιτροπής Οικονομικών και Προϋπολογισμού της Βουλής των Αντιπροσώπων, τον προϋπολογισμό του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών για το 2027.
Ο προϋπολογισμός ανέρχεται στα €137,7 εκατ., παρουσιάζοντας αύξηση 4% σε σύγκριση με το 2026.
Σε δηλώσεις του προς τα Μέσα Μαζικής Ενημέρωσης μετά το πέρας της συνεδρίασης, ο κ. Κόμπος αναφέρθηκε στην αύξηση του προϋπολογισμού κατά €34,9 εκατομμύρια, ή ποσοστό 34%, σε σύγκριση με τον εγκεκριμένο προϋπολογισμό του 2023, όταν ανέλαβε η Κυβέρνηση του Προέδρου Χριστοδουλίδη.
Ο Υπουργός Εξωτερικών αναφέρθηκε στις προτεραιότητες της εξωτερικής πολιτικής της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας, με επίκεντρο την προάσπιση των εθνικών συμφερόντων και την ενίσχυση της διεθνούς παρουσίας και της κρατικής υπόστασης της χώρας. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίδεται στη διεύρυνση του διπλωματικού αποτυπώματος της Κύπρου, μέσω της εμβάθυνσης των περιφερειακών και διεθνών συνεργασιών, της ανθρωπιστικής δράσης και της αξιοποίησης των συγκριτικών πλεονεκτημάτων της ως κράτους μέλους της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης.
Σημείωσε επίσης ότι ενισχύθηκαν οι δυνατότητες του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών σε ό,τι αφορά ζητήματα άσκησης πολιτικής μέσω εργαλείων ήπιας διπλωματίας.

I have known and worked with @Lana_Nusseibeh for some time.
Lana is an experienced, highly effective and well respected diplomat, with an approach focusing on dialogue, compromise and tangible outcomes, while also having a strong track record in supporting multilateralism and the United Nations.
I firmly believed, and continue to do so, that it is time for female leadership in important multilateral organisations. Qualified candidates have not been endorsed so far for the position of the @UN Secretary-General, under the rules of the UN system. It is becoming time sensitive to ensure that the selection process proceeds.
I therefore wish Lana strength in this demanding endeavour, and every success in paving new pathways.

In a phone call today with Saudi Foreign Minister @FaisalbinFarhan, I reiterated Cyprus’ full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and support to its sovereignty and territorial integrity after the Houthi attacks.
All attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure are unacceptable and should cease immediately.
Cyprus is a firm advocate of keeping the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz open to international shipping, ensuring freedom of navigation and safe passage according to international law, as reflected in #UNCLOS.
We reaffirmed our commitment to regional security and stability.
