Supporting farmers to become climate-resilient means also supporting the network of actors who surround them. ✏️#Education has an enormous role to play. Learn how IRI thru @CGIARAfrica is working with 70+ institutions across Africa to co-develop curricula to manage #climate risk
Through AICCRA, the co-development of Climate Risk Management in Agricultural Extension curricula is the first of its kind, bringing together 70+ institutions to build knowledge & skills for extension workers to help farmers better plan for climate risk.

It's a fantastic Friday today in Zomba, Malawi 🇲🇼 as we have just launched the Enhancing National Climate Services (ENACTS) initiative in collaboration with the @WMO 's @CREWSinitiative !
"This downscaled location-specific climate information, made possible through the ENACTS approach, represents a huge stride in climate information availability for the country," said Dr. Lucy Mtilatila, Director of @DccmsM of @MwNatresources.
The ENACTS initiative, now active in more than 20 primarily African countries, is one of IRI's flagship initiatives to increase the availability, access, and use of climate information for decision-making and anticipatory risk management.📖Learn more here:iri.columbia.edu/resources/e….

In this Q&A, climate scientist @wxpizza of @columbiaclimate @climatesociety discusses his work with @RCClimate, why we need a new generation of climate science translators, and what humanitarian action might look like in a post 1.5C° world. news.climate.columbia.edu/20…
Ensuring climate information📈is embedded within agricultural extension systems👩🏽🌾🌾is critical for supporting farmers in an increasingly erratic #climate!▶️Watch how we're teaming up with partners like @meteosenegal & @AncarSenegal in Senegal 🇸🇳 to do just that! @columbiaclimate
AICCRA Senegal and @climatesociety launched an ambitious locally co-designed Climate Risk Management in Agricultural Extension (CRMAE) curriculum in Senegal to help agricultural networks make more effective use of climate information in #Senegal.

Making moves in Malawi! 🇲🇼 Today, we are kicking off our @WMO CREWS project with @climatesociety & @DccmsM ! Together, we will make sure Malawi's #climate data 📈 is not only improved, but made freely accessible and useful to support decision-makers! 🧠💡#AdaptationInAction 💪🏾
Congratulations to Celeste Saulo (@SMN_Argentina), who will be the first female Sec-Gen of @WMO!

For those who’ve asked about the potential impacts of El Niño - here’s a map that shows what it can do to rainfall patterns around the world. And for the latest El Niño forecasts: iri.columbia.edu/our-experti…
The positive impacts of this work will last for years and decades. Great to see the climate training for agricultural extension officers featured. Kudos to IRI staff and partners for the many months of effort they put in to make these trainings so successful!
We believe, with increased access to & *use of* innovations by @CGIAR & partners, #farmers can better anticipate climate events & make informed decisions to safeguard livelihoods & environment.
