Today marked one month since I became Prime Minister.
Cutting tax on electricity bills. Capping bus fares at £2 in England. Making subscriptions easier to cancel. Cracking down on fake discounts. Giving 14-year-olds early access to technical education. Opening 159 new mental health centres. Investing to get all rough sleepers off the street this winter. Supporting farmers affected by the drought. Cutting business rates for pubs, clubs, and music venues. Shutting down 13 more asylum hotels. Giving mayors a share of income tax. Extending the 16-17 Saver Railcard. Bringing buses in the West Midlands under public control. Fast-tracking new homes near train stations. Cleaning up illegal waste dumps. Giving communities and councils more power over what opens on their high street. Opening No10 North. Giving disabled people 24/7 free bus travel. Delivering the biggest transfer of power, funding and responsibility from Westminster in a generation.
It's a start, but I’m not complacent. I know that people need more and I promise that I will do everything I can to make yours and your family’s lives better. We're doing things differently to give people more breathing space and bring back hope.
Here’s to the next month.

For too long, we’ve been told that ending rough sleeping will take decades or even that it's impossible. I'm not having that.
This is something a government can fix if it chooses to. Today, I’m choosing to.
The Passage are an organisation leading the way on this - I was proud to chat to their team this morning.

Today, we voted to bring Merseyrail back into public ownership when the current private concession ends in 2028.
You know it's a big announcement when even the next Prime Minister's talking about it!

I’m really pleased that my Notice of Motion calling for a Nationally Televised Emergency Briefing on the Climate and Nature Crisis was passed by Full Council today.
The recent heatwaves, wildfires and the tragic estimate that more than 2,700 people may have died during the recent heatwaves in England and Wales are a reminder that the impacts of climate change are already here.
They affect our health, our food security, our transport networks, our homes, our wildlife, our conservation areas and historic buildings, and the communities we live in.
We also need practical local action, including more cool spaces, drinking water and support for vulnerable residents. As temperatures continue to rise, measures like these will become increasingly important as we build stronger, safer and more resilient communities.

It’s the honour of my life to be Leader of the Labour Party.
I will be a leader for every region and nation in this great country, and this Party will be unashamedly Labour in our priorities and in the decisions we take.
Together, we will set Britain on a new path.

Absolutely delighted government has agreed the 'four unitary' proposal supported by @prestoncouncil as we move rapidly toward Local Government Reorganisation (LGR).
This is the best decision for both Preston and wider Lancashire.
Within our new local authority area we will have oustanding areas of natural beauty, three universities, two hospitals, advanced manufacturing, significant council led regeneration, a first class cultural offer and a commitment to grow our democratic economy and reduce poverty.
Looking forward to working with partners to deliver this positive change.

Today belongs to the Hillsborough families.
They never gave up.
Because of them, our country is one step closer to ensuring no family has to fight so long for truth and justice again.
