Implosion time - just as FCO perm sec Simon Macdonald felt compelled to tell the truth about Johnson lies so the Treasury perm Secretary now making clear the Sunak ยฃ2000 tax claim is a lie. They cannot help themselves. They wonโt worry too much because this is all about producing strong clear lines for under the radar targeting. But by allowing Labour to be able to say he is no different to Johnson when it comes to truth twisting he has turned a short term tactical win into a big strategic own goal. Will be discussing on @BBCr4today shortly

Extraordinary hypocrisy today from High Peakโs Conservative MP. His government causes the biggest cost of living crisis in living memory and he thinks itโs great that local charities and faith groups have to offer warm places for people who canโt afford to heat their homes.
