One of the many things I learned from @gentry about design is the idea of *informed simplicity*
I'm looking for a technical cofounder. I would love to meet you if you:
- Are based in SF or willing to relocate
- Have experience building agentic systems
- Appreciate well crafted products
- Want to work really hard
DMs are open.
Last year we sold Visual Electric to Perplexity. The product was sunset shortly after. I knew then I had another company in me, I just didn't expect my next idea to come along so quickly.
Working on something new and looking for exceptional people to join the founding team. DMs are open.
Honest question for product designers
You can only pick one, what do you choose?

Colin Dunn @colindunn predicts a future where branding is liquid: generative, adaptive, and personal to each individual. A future where the designer’s role shifts from precision crafting to becoming a “vibe director.”

It's true, @visualelectric has been acquired by @perplexity_ai.
I’m beyond grateful for the ride at Visual Electric. I joined because I believed in their vision, design craft, but most of all because of who they were as humans and as a team. Good things happen when the vibes are right.
Now we get to keep building together at Perplexity: exploring the frontier of agentic experiences and what comes next in how people interact with intelligent machines.
Thank you @soleio for pushing me toward VE to begin with, and thank you to the Perplexity team for welcoming us with open arms. Incredibly excited for what's to come.
Today we’re sharing the next step in Visual Electric’s journey: we’ve been acquired by @Perplexity_AI ⚡️
This marks both an exciting opportunity for our team, but also some bittersweet changes for our product. Over the next 90 days we’ll be winding down Visual Electric.
Thank you for your support, your feedback, your experiments, and your generations.

We've acquired @visualelectric. The team led by @colindunn and @adammenges is fantastic and they will work together with us on new consumer product experiences that we're excited to ship to all Perplexity and Comet users pretty soon!
Bittersweet moment. Visual Electric has been acquired by Perplexity and will be sunset over the coming weeks.
Becoming a founder has long been a dream of mine, and getting to work on Visual Electric for nearly three years has been the most rewarding experience of my career.
Thank you to the team, our investors, and customers who have supported us along the way.
The VE team is leading agentic experiences at Perplexity, working on new kinds of products that have only recently become possible. Excited for this next chapter.

This has been a long time coming… I’m incredibly excited to welcome Emerson to the crew, where he’ll be leading product design. After reviewing hundreds of candidates, it was clear Emerson was truly exceptional, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on board ⚡️⚡️⚡️
New chapter: I’ve joined as Founding Product Designer at @visualelectric.
I’m extremely excited to be back in the startup world, working with amazing design-oriented founders, a force of a team, world-class investors, and incredible new tech with unchartered possibilities. Huge shout out to @adammenges, @colindunn, @liamtlacey, @soleio, and the whole team at VE for ushering me in.
For a long time I’ve been obsessing over design (of course), but also AI, emerging startups, and what comes next in this era of change. What comes next for creatives and designers?
We’re exploring the edge of what AI can unlock, inventing new patterns, workflows, and interfaces as we go.
Grateful to the Seed team at Google, that was a hard goodbye. They’ve got some open roles, including my old one. Best team in the game, DM me for links to apply.
More soon. For now: excited, grateful, and ready to build.

Want to see how a world-class creative team used AI to make an editorial campaign, from concept to execution?
No photo studio. No production delays. Just creative momentum.
Here's how Superside pulled it off, with the help of Visual Electric👇
This was fun to make. Shout out to @kysondana for leading the charge on the design, @liamtlacey for his work on content, and our friends at @framer for bringing it to life

Before founding @visualelectric , I was bouncing startup ideas off @grosen for the better part of a decade. He was my first filter for startup ideas and ultimately the first check into VE.
A glimpse into how @colindunn navigated his own idea maze from classically trained designer to startup founder.
When we hatched the idea for First of Kind w/ @soleio, Colin and his story were at the top of his list for inspiring more designers to make the leap to founder.
