Last weekend, it fell to ordinary people to oppose the far right and others. The national toxicity has reached us: a kind of hate I haven’t seen since the 1970s

A few pics of recent work. Well maintained Hazel Coppice yields loads of material for habitat management/heritage crafts/environmental education.

This is bonkers! What is the carbon cost of transporting these? What is the bio security risk? We have tonnes of available firewood in this country in unmanaged woodland, there is no need to import.

Over the last two evenings we have ringed over 100 Swallows at roost. We also had the amazing surprise of a Hoopoe, an uncommon visitor from Europe. The Swallow ringed elsewhere, 3 Sand Martins and a Yellow Wagtail were somewhat overshadowed!

I’m so fortunate to be able to enjoy this landscape by bike with all the madness going on in the world.

Some important context: this is the kind of sentence that was being handed out during the Kill The Bill protest in Bristol in 2021. This "two-tier Keir" line is utterly ridiculous.

Terrible video but it’s great to see another barn owl and this one is very much alive and taking a mouse back to the nest. Hopefully it’s feeding a brood.

Sad to find the remains of a recently killed barn owl yesterday. I suspect it was taken by a goshawk.

July is always a quiet month so I’m happy that this load of faggots went out for rivermending/wetlands habitat restoration.

Now that the Greens have won 4 seats , can we please have endless discussions on every media outlet about the rise of progressive politics & how important saving the planet is to the UK electorate.

In July I’ll be voting for our rivers. 💧🐟🌱 The BBC did a very good job editing down my long-form ranting, but I actually said “what the [EA] once were *or rather could have been*”. Small difference to some, big to others.

Well managed Hazel Coppice is a habitat in its own right and also provides material for managing/restoring wetlands and rivers as habitat.
