Xcode 27.2 beta includes a new CLI: xcodeproj
It lets you change build settings, add targets, edit groups… from the command line. Works with the new JSON project format and classic Xcode projects, and uses the same underlying support as Xcode, so edits match what Xcode does.
If you have the beta installed, check it out:
xcrun xcodeproj --help

I don't think I ever swear on social media, but this one is worth it: holy shit! A JSON-based project format for Xcode! 🤯

Are you a developer working on iOS 27 app updates? Drowning in screenshots and screen recordings?
I made something for you. Free and open source.
Apple Frames CLI lets you (or your agent) frame any screenshot or screen recording from any Apple device.
It supports *every* official Apple frame color, grouped batches, it can merge images and videos, and so much more.
I just released version 1.4 with even faster performance, videos with transparent background, and lots of fixes.
This has been a labor of love over the last few months, and I hope it can help you automate your App Store screenshots as much as it helps me for my articles ☺️

Hi! It's been a while.
Over the last two years, I've fundamentally changed as a creator. I'm still a writer and podcaster, but I guess I'm also a new kind of "builder". Today, I need to find new readers, listeners, and developers, wherever they may be.
Since my last post here:
- I still run @MacStoriesNet, now in its 17th (!) year. I write about apps, iOS, and new agentic workflows.
- Still love my iPad Pro, but I primarily work from my MacBook Pro and iPhone these days.
- I do not use AI for writing. The friction is the job.
- I *heavily* rely on Codex, and especially Codex Remote for iOS, to automate every other aspect of what I do. (My entire iOS 27 Review setup runs inside it this year.)
- I'm building a series of tools to bridge Apple's apps to frontier models. Teasing a wild project soon 👀
- I finally saw Oasis again last year and it was biblical.
Back to work. ✍️

Cubby, the app I built to automatically categorize and save browser tabs, is now on the App Store!
Being a bit of a neat freak, I’ll admit it’s always been hard for me to relate to people who keep 100+ tabs open.
For a while, if I wanted to save a site, I would do the work of managing a bookmark list. Then I got lazy and just started to put everything in Safari’s reading list. Eventually, that turned into a huge unorganized pile where articles I wanted to read, things I wanted to buy, and good looking recipes would get shoved into and then basically never seen again. Not much better than just leaving them open as tabs.
Earlier this year, I started wondering what it would look like to make saving tabs neat and effortless. That became Cubby: a sort of Marie Kondo for your tabs.
Starting with iOS, Cubby lets you save tabs from any browser, automatically categorizes them, and keeps everything organized in a simple, clean interface ready for you to find them quickly. Whether you’re someone with too many tabs to count, or someone like me who just wants an easier place to put sites you actually want to come back to, Cubby is made for you.
It’s live on the App Store now: apps.apple.com/app/id6761466…
