This is precisely why I found the @BBC's reporting from a Jewish school in the UK, as part of its coverage of antisemitism in schools, so troubling. The school's own curriculum explicitly refers to nurturing children to become "positive advocates of Israel". There's a fundamental difference between teaching children about Jewish faith, history and identity, and encouraging them to be fierce advocates for a particular state. Religious education should never become political indoctrination.
Wow watch this Israeli actress believing she was off ait saying she felt embarrassed to be Israeli and what Israel is doing is horrific. But watch the terror when she realises that she was live!

There was a real danger that Andreas Malm might have expressed humanitarian sentiments supportive of the Palestinian people and might even have highlighted the plight of their continuing genocide. The U.K. supports Israel, not the Palestinian people.

A bit bizarre that only two weeks after piling up on the Greens for saying zionism is racism every mainstream commentator is lamenting that the only thing preventing a Netanyahu defeat is the unfortunate fact that … zionism is racism

Pure ignorance: no serious Israeli historian or archaeologist believes this & DNA studies completely disprove it. Read the work for eg of Gideon Avni or Yossi Rappoport: languages & religions changed, people remained Recovering the lost history of Gaza share.google/5LwquF4LW6j0TbO…
The Jews are the only extant indigenous people of the land of Israel. The people who colonised it were Romans, Christians, Arabs and Muslims. Zionism is the ultimate decolonisation movement. The genocidal child-murderers are Hamas-led Palestinian Arabs and the Iranian regime. Get something above your own neck other than ignorance and knuckle-dragging bigotry.

On this Israeli election day, I’d recommend reading this extraordinary @haaretzcom interview with billionaire Ronald Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress and once one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s closest confidants. One of Lauder’s most striking conclusions: “I realized at the end of the day that Israel really didn't want peace, but they wanted dominance.” This is coming from someone who helped launch Netanyahu’s political career, introduced him to powerful figures in American politics and media, and secretly negotiated with Hafez al-Assad and Rafik Hariri on his behalf in the late 1990s. In one of the interview’s biggest revelations, Lauder says Netanyahu agreed to a comprehensive peace deal with Syria and Lebanon, including withdrawal from the Golan Heights, but ultimately refused to sign it for political reasons. “He chose politics over peace. He put his political future before the deal.” Now 82, Lauder describes his profound disillusionment with Israel’s direction. After decades of supporting Israeli and Jewish institutions, he has sold his Tel Aviv apartment, given away his Be’er Sheva property, and says he has no intention of returning to Israel. He warns that Netanyahu’s dependence on figures like Ben-Gvir and Smotrich is damaging Israel, alienating diaspora Jews and eroding support in Washington. The interview is also full of fascinating details about Lauder’s role in Netanyahu’s political rise. The two became close friends in the 1980s, when Netanyahu was Israel’s ambassador to the UN, speaking almost daily at times. Lauder says he introduced Netanyahu to speech coach Lilyan Wilder to improve his public speaking and, crucially, to Republican strategist Arthur Finkelstein, who would become instrumental in Netanyahu’s electoral success. When Netanyahu left New York to pursue a political career in Israel, Lauder threw him a farewell party attended by some of the most influential figures in American media and politics, including Rupert Murdoch and the head of the New York Times. Lauder recalls opening doors for Netanyahu and helping him cultivate the relationships that would underpin his rise to power. What makes this interview so revealing is that Lauder is no longtime critic of Israel. He had been a committed Zionist, a Republican power broker, and a man who spent decades financing Jewish institutions, cultivating relationships with Arab leaders, and pursuing diplomatic openings on Israel’s behalf. A fascinating read 👇 haaretz.com/israel-news/elec…

B’Tselem urgently calls on governments and international institutions to act now, using all means available under international law, to prevent the forcible displacement of Palestinian civilians, collective punishment and extensive unlawful destruction in Hebron. Israeli leaders are openly declaring their intentions, and actions on the ground have already begun. Following the shooting near Hebron on 23 October, in which two Israeli soldiers were killed, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz openly announced plans to forcibly displace Palestinian residents and carry out extensive destruction in the area. In a statement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared: “We will apply in the cities the successful offensive model we implemented in the refugee camps.” That same model has already displaced more than 33,000 Palestinians in the northern West Bank. Now, Israeli leaders are threatening to bring the same mass displacement and destruction to Hebron. Implementation has already begun. Israeli forces imposed a cordon on Hebron and Halhul, while the Civil Administration began demolishing Palestinian structures in the neighborhood of Farsh al-Hawa. At the same time, Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the establishment of four new settlement farming outposts in the South Hebron Hills. Israeli leaders are openly announcing plans for collective punishment and acts that could constitute war crimes. These plans echo Israel’s devastating operations as part of the genocide in Gaza and mark a further escalation of its ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing as part of the Elimination Project in the West Bank: the systematic dismantling of Palestinian collective life while expanding settlements and entrenching permanent Israeli control. The world cannot stand by as Israel continues its assault on Palestinians, waiting for yet more neighborhoods to be emptied and erased before intervening, despite what we have already witnessed in Gaza and the northern West Bank. Governments and international bodies must act now to prevent these crimes and protect Palestinian civilians.

Read this. And if you have school-aged children, act on it.
🚨 PLEASE SHARE! I've written to both my children's schools following the Government's antisemitism review. I WILL NOT accept genocide being presented as a two-sided political debate, or Palestinian history and suffering being erased from their education. I've drafted a template which I'm sharing for other parents to use or adapt. Political impartiality must NEVER become historical dishonesty. Please use them. Challenge your schools. Demand answers. #GazaGenocide docs.google.com/document/d/1…

If it makes you feel better to frame it that way Jake but it is in fact a picture I took of poppies blooming on top of a massacre site at the erased Palestinian village of Burayr about ten miles east of the Gaza Strip fence. You can find it on pre 1948 maps if you want to check and you can find Burayr survivors/descendants in Jabaliya refugee camp, tho it will be hard as that too is now erased.
I believe this is known as “doubling down”

Would you accept your own mother being attacked like this? Palestinian residents of Al-Mughayyir are being subjected to nationalist terror by the "Yarad" group; using brute force—and enjoying immunity granted by the authorities and the military—they steal livestock and more.

Much punchier accusations from Sir Malcolm Rifkind - a former defence and foreign secretary: "I choose my words very carefully. I think this week Donald Trump has shown himself as a person to be repulsive; as a President of the United States to be a disgrace to his own people as well as to his international responsibilities. "We all know his actual reasons for this are a grubby attempt to win a few more votes in the midterms by trying to get oil prices down. "In order to achieve that, he has not only betrayed Ukraine in the middle of a war, fighting for its very existence, but he is also directly - not indirectly - directly responsible for the deaths of many Ukrainians who will not now be protected by the attempts that have been successfully made using intelligence provided indirectly by the United States." teapaw.org/breeallegretti/status/…

Dear Israel supporters who talk so much about Jewish Safety and call Palestinians terrorists: A Jewish American woman was attacked by Jewish Israeli settler-terrorists. Her life was saved by Palestinians. Hope this helps.
I wrote a full, detailed account of the October 16 settler and soldier attack on the olive harvest in Abu Falah. I think it may be the most important thing I’ve ever written. “The Palestinians Who Rescued Heidi Levine” Link in next tweet.

Hart, I was a Zionist for nearly all my life. I actually went to live in Israel and was there for some years. So, you don't need to instruct me about that. Seeing the reality that, in order to exist, Israel requires the oppression, dispossession and expulsion of Palestinians took me decades. Now that I see it, I can't unsee it.

You could not understand his answer because you don't know what the word Zionist means. Unless or until you have a common understanding of what it means to be a Zionist, you can ne Er understand the why.

Yay. Now we get to listen to Israelis lamenting that they didn’t know how bad things were in the West Bank all this time. Because listening to/believing Palestinians - who for decades have systematically documented/reported what is happening - was never an option.
“Everything we thought we knew about the deeds of violent settlers pales in comparison to the reality on the ground.” In a guest essay Nimrod Novik describes the shock he felt on a tour of the West Bank economist.com/by-invitation/…

I long ago came to terms with the fact that Donald Trump’s worldview is entirely transactional and amoral. What still beggars belief is the failure of America’s institutional checks and balances to prevent him from committing serial acts of national self-harm. Deeply depressing
BREAKING: Volodymyr Zelenskyy tells @piersmorgan he has been betrayed by Trump, that Elon Musk and the US deliberately cut off Starlink and people are being killed as a result “This is not the right side of history,” he says. “It is a pity that we are losing a strong partner” On Musk and Starlink he says: “This decision will bring a lot of human losses. Of course, people will die” “I am sure they knew what they did, absolutely. Because it was 1am at night, Starlink was blocked by SpaceX and the United States” “It’s not just about attack. It’s also about defending life. So people were killed because, not enough destroying, not enough interceptors, including interceptors with Starlink, which didn't work. Of course.” Asked if he’s angry with Musk, Zelenskyy says: “Yes, I think he is not right. It's a big mistake.”

If you haven’t yet seen this, it’s worth taking a look at this detailed examination of the UK Govt’s response to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza. One key revelation is when aid workers including British nationals were killed in an Israeli strike on a World Central Kitchen convoy. Two days later, the then UK Foreign Sec David Cameron signed off on the latest arms export approval to Israel. That same day he announced an urgent and “transparent” investigation into the attack. channel4.com/programmes/brit…
