VETERANS wearing a Poppy are BANNED from from Wetherspoons
WOW. Manager of Gosport Wetherspoons states it’s ‘Company policy’ to not allow anyone in with a Remembrance Poppy on as it ‘could be political’
I can’t believe what I just heard from our nations biggest pub chain.
Veterans wearing a poppy are banned from Wetherspoons.

As I said on @bbcsml we should not be paying a penny in slavery reparations to anyone.
Yes slavery was wrong, but it was practiced by societies the world over (and indeed continued to be practiced by Africans and others long after Britain abolished it).
Given the huge amounts of blood and treasure we spent in abolishing the slave trade around the world, we have also amply paid our debt
It’s frankly embarrassing. Maybe take surface vessel construction away from these Scottish legacy yards?
Replying to @MtarfaL
...This frigate has spent almost four years this dock and over nine years in construction...

Our Advisory Council member @julianhjessop debunks Angela Rayner's claims of a 20% Brexit hit to UK exports... 🤔
FYI, talking about Brexit yesterday, Angela Rayner claimed that...
“The evidence is really clear in terms of 20% down in exports to the EU, 16,000 businesses no longer exporting to the EU, it has been the red tape on the EU deal we got, has been damaging to the economy”.
But if this is indeed the evidence, it really is not clear!
Let's unpick it... 🧵

This is one of the most blatant examples of gaslighting you’ll ever see.
This clip sums up the Labour Party. It sums up Angela Rayner. And, frankly, it sums up too most politicians.
Laura Kuenssberg asks Rayner about Andy Burnham opening the door to a return to freedom of movement. He’s started the debate by talking about it.
Kuenssberg: “The Labour manifesto in 2024 said in black and white ‘there will be no return to freedom of movement’. You stood on that manifesto. Andy Burnham promised to stick to that manifesto. He’s breaking that promise, isn’t he?”
Then this from Rayner: “No he isn’t, because he’s been really clear that this Parliament, that manifesto, we are clear we are not reopening that debate.”
Unbelievable. Even by her standards.
Kuenssberg put her right immediately: “He’s literally just reopened this debate. It’s exactly what’s just happened.”
She denies the debate has been reopened in the same breath as it is being reopened. They will say anything, no matter how obviously contradictory.
We watch car crash after car crash from Labour ministers, yet they keep rising in the polls. No wonder the country is in such a mess.
God there some softball interviews of Sadiq Khan and Lord O’Neill on Today just now. That show is now a branch of the Labour PR department.

With Freedom of Movement once again looming, can I ask all the middle class rejoiners who speak no EU language and didn’t go and live in the EU when they had the chance last time;
which EU country won’t you live, love and work in this time?

17.4 million people voted to Leave the EU and end free movement.
But one man, who only a few months ago wasn’t even an MP, believes he has the god given right to ignore them.
Go to hell Andy Burnham.
PM open to 'honest discussion' about return to EU free movement

All of this…
Does @AngelaRayner realise how misleading this is?
Even if not, good journalists should have figures at hand to correct her & other Govt. ministers trying to imply UK exports to the EU have gone down since Brexit.
In fact total exports to the EU have increased since Brexit.

A very Norwich story this…

I saw @Justin_Br0nk give an interesting interview about what sort of things we could be doing to maximise our lethality with what we currently have - or what we could conceivably procure - in the next 2/3 years. Very interesting.
Wes Streeting says Britain has a little over 1,000 days to be ready to fight and win a war, because by 2030 adversaries could have the capacity to attack.
Households being told to keep three days of water and food is one response. The other is ships, submarines, munitions and trained people actually available when needed – particularly in the High North, where the Defence Committee has just reported serious gaps. The government isn't even commiting to 3% on defence.
How nice to be back on GMT again - our natural time. If it were Versailles Mean Time, the French would make much more of it - seeing it as an opportunity. We should stay on GMT all year round.
