Chamath Palihapitiya says SpaceX could double or triple what Anthropic pays for compute by pulling one 90 day clause "SpaceX and Anthropic's compute deal has a mutual 90 day out" "It allows SpaceX to reprice that compute at the spot rate, which is probably double... it could probably triple" "All the game theory literally comes down to this one deal and whether Elon decides to rip it" With post-midterm data center permits in doubt after a week that erased close to $4 trillion in market cap, Chamath argued capacity owners become kingmakers while neoclouds that rent compute get squeezed ($GOOGL $AMZN $CRWV $NVDA) If new data centers stall, whoever already owns the power and the racks sets the price, and the renters pay it via @theallinpod, featuring @chamath

BREAKING: Trump may have accidentally chosen the wrong Dana White for his White House Press Secretary offer. There is a woman named "Dana White" who is the former Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, more commonly known as the Pentagon's chief spokesperson, from April 2017 to the end of 2018. She briefed the press from the Pentagon podium, and served as the principal media adviser and communications lead for the Secretary of Defense. She also was a Fox News publicist and worked at the conservative Heritage Foundation. She even started her career as a press secretary for the House Republican Conference. Someone at the White House likely recommended her to Trump and he thought they meant UFC CEO Dana White, then went ahead and announced it on Truth Social thinking it's his UFC friend, and nobody around him was willing to correct him. Furthermore, Trump is actively searching for a new press secretary after Karoline Leavitt left and Katie Zacharia lasted five days, so names are being pitched to him right now. Per CNN, UFC's Dana White has declined the offer, and one aide now claims Trump was "joking."

The "Democracy" play is simple. Numerically dominate the distribution of power. Have a permanent majority that will continue to vote themselves your property. Then, skim some or most of that off the top while perpetuating the system. The only way out is through this demoncracy.

SpaceX and Tesla have prospered in Texas, because we were not constantly operating under an oppressive and extractive state government. And I need to be close to the factories, so that I can walk the floor in person. That’s why the first major SpaceX factory was in LA and first major Tesla factory was in SF Bay Area. As California became increasingly difficult, due to extreme taxes and overregulation, we moved our major domestic expansions and HQ to Texas.

Brute force computation is not enough for intelligence. Clever new methods are needed. The science of AI is far from finished. IMHO

If Nvidia gets TSMC into DRAM, the payoff could arrive before the first shipment. A credible alternative supplier changes leverage in negotiations with existing suppliers. That's valuable even before it changes production/prices. We need to know qualification timelines and committed capacity. An exploratory project isn't yet a fourth HBM supplier.

What a fucking idiot "No no no if I play word games and pretend like every one at OpenAI and Anthropic is actually braindead and won't be improving safety, only raw capability, then my contrived narrative makes sense" Everyone dunk on this fucking clown

Imagine telling someone in 1850 that you’re opposed to machines replacing human labor because people need jobs. They’d probably think you were insane. People weren’t working 14-hour days in factories because they loved employment. They were working because they had no alternative. Yet here we are, nearly 200 years later, treating the preservation of human labor as some kind of moral obligation. The objective was never to create jobs. The objective was to create prosperity. Somewhere along the way, we confused the two.

Cleanview estimates 41% of pending US data center capacity is in states where incoming governors campaigned on pausing DC construction. That may just be a campaign promise or a wink to get a bribe. What % of capacity will be canceled is an unknown. The investing questions that matter are which projects already have approvals, what can governors actually stop, and how long would delays last? Show me the project list before the valuation haircut.
BREAKING: 41% of pending data center capacity in the US is planned to be built in states where newly elected governors have promised to stop or pause such construction, per Cleanview

Anthropic’s UNRELEASED MODEL helped researchers solve an 18 year old conjecture in quantum computing. it’s interesting how far ahead these internal models are compared to what the public has available.
Today Physical Superintelligence PBC is announcing a proof of the Aaronson-Ambainis conjecture, one of the central open problems in quantum complexity, with major implications for quantum computing speedup. psi.inc/research/aaronson-am… Thread 👇
