4213 is a popular formation everyone is talking about right now so I had to try it out:
Pros
- Defesively Solid โ
- Good for controlling possesion โ
- CAM is always in a good attacking area โ
Cons
- Narrow in attack โ
Changes you could make
- Change the full backs to Wingback/Att. Wingback to give you more width and options in attack
- Change the LW/RW to wingers to have extra width
Final Thoughts
Its a well balanced formation, the CAM is key to everything that happens around the box so make sure theyre good.
Try and get a CDM with Long Ball PlayStyle to turn defence into attack quick.
The formation can feel a bit narrow if your fullbacks sit to deep so make them more attacking if you need, just be aware of counter attacks if you do that.

๐Playmaker CAM controls your offense here, RW Cuts in deep in attacking 3rd, as LW drifts wide-
ST is Advanced Fwd, and drifts wide with Focus; Complete.
๐Your CMs are set to Hold, but since itโs an aggressive line height, have your LCM with some Box to Box capabilities as they will fill the space the LW leaves.
๐Fullbacks also will tend to come up in situations where defense is leaving gaps, again due to the depth.
Fullbacks on Defend Focus still for defensive reasons.

Listen I aint Pep Guardiola, I'm still learning aswell. But this formation is clicking like crazy (Team 3rd pic)
Few things to mention:
- The "CAM" position has a specific role that acts like a CF/ST. Try to get a player that is a Striker that can play on the CAM position or, a good CAM card that can play on that role, for example Neymar, Lauren James etc
- For me this is basics, but idk for you guys. Try to defend as much as you can with the CMs
- As you see, both of my fullbacks are on "defend". Whenever I attack, I trigger the fullbacks (with L1) forward myself. You can experiment with different roles.
I just kept it on the "defend" role because I have not bought my "Full Meta CBs like VVD/Saliba" yet.
