City councilor Elect for Maafannu Uthuru #islaaheefikuru Dreamer, Believer, Achiever

I went even today itself, around 9:58 to have a look and report again. I have reported the issue to immigration and police service as well before. (Picture taken today morning) We have passed a "aamu undhagulaa behey gavaaidhu" which hasn't existed at the city council until now, And are waiting for LGA formalities and approval for gazetting it. Once that is done we can take more concrete action. Even the last time I attended we fined the people doing so, but they keep on repeating the same. Maldivians should stop "leasing their name" to register businesses which foreigners run and the local party gets a fixed fee for letting them do so. This is something that everyone knows but is rarely spoken about. too many have exploited this loophole which actually has accumulated way too many problems the last 15 odd years, now some of our industries have been taken over starting from island farms to the retail shops. Coordination between relevant agencies need to happen to close this loop, MCC has been trying but our letters and requests remain unanswered. PSA : if you're renting out a shop/godown or renting for any other business you need a permit from @MaleCitymv to apply to the economic ministry.

Atleast Furu tried to take some action. Found out that some are indeed illegals operating illegal businesses. But after awhile, Furu also can’t seem to be able to take any action. What does that mean when immigrants have more power than the authorities? So many roads are taken..

Talk about royally missing the point. Or should I say Ras-missing-the-point You are implying that the intervention under that government was rushed but yours is “justified” because the “previous guys also did it, and they did it first” Incompetence is incompetence. This bill had legally unnecessary elements and its timing is politically tone deaf to Maldivians sensibilities You messed up! Stop chasing your tail! My guy, please get your fries in the bag!!! 💀💀
The Maldives intervened in The Gambia v. Myanmar on 10 November 2023, under the previous Government. It is in that very declaration, Maldives expressly argued that Article V of the Genocide Convention obliges States to enact domestic legislation criminalising genocide. Yet, the Maldives had not done so. It was not this Government that “jumped into proceedings” making that very argument without first addressing our own laws. On 1 October 2024, this Government intervened in South Africa v. Israel, advancing arguments on States’ obligations to prevent and punish genocide, including direct and public incitement. Both interventions were legally justified. Neither required prior domestic criminalisation. This Government is correcting a legislative failure that has persisted for over four decades. That is not headline-chasing. That is doing our job. The facts are clear. Your understanding of them, evidently, is not.

We’re continuing to prepare assistance for residents affected by flooding, including sandbags. The pumps are working and on. Please exercise caution when travelling and look out for your neighbours. If you need assistance, call the Council hotline on 1622. We’re in this together, and we’ll keep doing what we can to help our people through it.

If so, publish the plans, hold public consultations, show the people. explain why these lands must be taken from the elected Council to make that development happen. This goverment has failed in every project they have attempted. Removing these 14 plots from MCC will cause further delay for progress way overdue in this city. The people shouldn't have to loose just because @MMuizzu got only 30%. Reality is; This is a council that will deliver, that is what they are afraid of. 1/2

@AikAhmedEasa and I dont always see eye to eye. But I always believed that you don’t have to agree on everything to recognise the good. His work ethic, his perseverance, nd effort to keep showing up are things I respect. MDP needs a youth wing that does more than talk about the future. It needs people willing to put in the work to build, to organise, to stand up to the old guard when things get difficult, and to keep going when the easy thing would be to give in. I believe Aik has stepped up and kept at it We may disagree on the how sometimes, but we can still work together on the why. And that, to me, is what we need. Goodluck Aik! 💪
I have decided to contest for the position of Zuvaanunge Hivvaruge Raees. MDP’s youth deserve a platform that stays active and gives young members a real space to engage consistently. They also deserve a cohesive Youth Wing, one that remains connected no matter where members live across the country. To help make this a reality, I humbly ask for your support and respectfully seek your vote as we move forward. #VoteAik

Some stand on the stage, others make sure there is a stage to stand on. The rest of us see the suits, the ties, the stage and the speeches. But there is always someone behind it all, making sure the lights come on, the chairs are in place and everyone has somewhere to sit. This is the man who makes it happen @mziyattey Not forgetting that are many people who give their time and energy to make an event like this possible, and every bit of that matters as much.

Whoever you are, you're raising your kids right 🙏 Sometimes, in the middle of everything that makes a city feel difficult, you catch a glimpse of what it could become. These kids saw workers repaving the street. They didn’t see “beyru meehun” small acts of kindness like this is easy to overlook. There is a lot that can make us loose hope in Malé. But every now and then, there is that glimmer of hope. Sometimes it comes from the people we least expect. Sometimes, it comes from a few kids with big hearts & sometimes, thats enough to remind us what kind of city we should really be building *Video credits to the owner, got this from our councilors WhatsApp group.

Great to see the Council being part of events like this. But we missed an important bit, Our staff fielded both a women nd men’s team, & mens team went on to win the competition!! Staff are the Council’s most important asset.. Their efforts, participation and achievements deserve to be celebrated alongside everything else we do!.
Hulhangufaigathalhaa 1448 is currently underway in Malé, with an exciting dodgeball event bringing teams together in a spirit of sportsmanship, energy and community. A fun-filled evening of competition, teamwork and togetherness! @adamazim
