MvBudget 2027 is MVR 4.5B less on paper; mostly because a one-off MVR 7.7B bond got paid off this year.
Underneath, actual spending rises 6.6%, the deficit hits MVR 9.4B, & MVR 8.7B in local T-bills will squeeze private credit. My breakdown of the new budget: dhauru.com/post/report/46815

🚨 BREAKING: A child has died due to extreme cold at Al-Anan Camp in the Al-Katiba area, west of Gaza City.
Whether the law exists or not, how are expatriates fearlessly operating against the authorities, in this case the City Council? There is no way, I could travel to Bangladesh and be this free as a foreigner, operate an illegal business, harass women and face no consequence.
I went even today itself, around 9:58 to have a look and report again.
I have reported the issue to immigration and police service as well before. (Picture taken today morning)
We have passed a "aamu undhagulaa behey gavaaidhu" which hasn't existed at the city council until now,
And are waiting for LGA formalities and approval for gazetting it. Once that is done we can take more concrete action.
Even the last time I attended we fined the people doing so, but they keep on repeating the same.
Maldivians should stop "leasing their name" to register businesses which foreigners run and the local party gets a fixed fee for letting them do so.
This is something that everyone knows but is rarely spoken about.
too many have exploited this loophole which actually has accumulated way too many problems the last 15 odd years, now some of our industries have been taken over starting from island farms to the retail shops.
Coordination between relevant agencies need to happen to close this loop, MCC has been trying but our letters and requests remain unanswered.
PSA : if you're renting out a shop/godown or renting for any other business you need a permit from @MaleCitymv to apply to the economic ministry.

Replying to @ERA_Maldives
@ERA_Maldives has clarified that Villimale' banyan tree which @WAMCOmv & @PoliceMv r actively involved in felling is a PROTECTED tree.
What these institutions r doing is unlawful.
This is absolutely unacceptable. How is MPS able to act outside the law in broad daylight like this?
Walk down almost any street in Male' and you'll find little shops and Cafés that has made the little walking space left on our streets into a part of their business area. Sometimes its a stock stack, sometimes its a group of people waiting to order a coffee. Add to that the issues related to littering and smoking.
For a small business that bit of pavement is part of what keeps it going. For an elderly person, a parent or a child walking to school, it means stepping onto the middle of road to move past the goods or gathering.
Our pavements are already narrow. Some narrow streets doesn't even have a pavement. Others are taken up by construction sites. So who should get that space? Should it be banned completely? Allowed freely? Allowed with a fee and with clear rules?
What do you think?

Scores of trucks carrying new tents and caravans (mobile homes) have been waiting at Gaza's border for more than a year, but Israel has blocked them from entering despite a US-brokered and monitored ceasefire.
Israel’s deliberate and systematic cruelty to deprive displaced Palestinians of shelter and compound their suffering is part of an effort to drive Palestinians out of Gaza, and is continuing with full U.S. support.

Israel has brainwashed you into believing that Palestine with zero fighter jets, zero helicopters, zero tanks, and zero soldiers are oppressing a nuclear superpower with 75-400 nuclear warheads, over 340 fighter jets, 130 helicopters, 1,500 tanks, and 650,000 soldiers.
Stop calling it a war. Israel is not fighting an army; it is fighting defenseless civilians—women, children, and elderly. Call it what it is: GENOCIDE
