I canโ€™t believe Abdul El-Sayed would accept a $400 million jet from the largest financial backer of the Muslim Brotherhood. Oh, wait. That was Donald Trump.

It's fucking crazy that an investigation exposing how Jared Kushner laundered billions if dollars through Azerbaijan, including payments to a warlord, a mercenary, and a hitman, isn't getting more attention.

I have come to the realization that people don't vote Republican to improve their life. They vote Republican to destroy the lives of people they hate.

One thing I didn't anticipate is the sudden appearance of Bobby Jindal in this year's cycle.

Elon Musk should not be admired or respected. Elon Musk should be feared as a wealthy gangster who pushes any button to get what he wants. What Elon Musk wants is to benefit himself, amass more billions of dollars and never have a single altruistic notion. Elon Musk's game is to get as much as he can as fast as he can. To him you can either get out of his way or...that's it really. Elon Musk wants us all to get out his way. Elon Musk owes America reparations for "DOGE" and helping shove Trump down our throats. Elon Musk in no way supports free speech except for himself. For Elon Musk free speech never has to be truthful speech. Elon Musk always gets the last word. He owns the media. Question everything he says or does. @elonmusk โ€“ at Independence, KY

It's become painfully clear that structuring our whole society around maximising profit instead of the wellbeing of people and planet was a REALLY terrible idea.

When Democrats come back into power, they need to understand that this is not the time to come together and "move on and heal" as a nation. I want names. I want charges. I want court cases. I want indictments. That's what I fucking want when Democrats come back into power.

Hawaii has stopped Citizens United. Corporations in Hawaii can no longer spend money on elections. That's how it's done! Every state should follow suit. Letโ€™s just make it a federal law. Period.

I want to talk about Patrick Collison. Letโ€™s start with a simple acknowledgment: he is one of the most impressive philanthropists right now: - When Covid hit, he and Tyler Cowen launched Fast Grants and got money to scientists within days. - He helped launch the Arc Institute, so biologists could do science instead of drowning in paperwork for grants. - And Stripe, under Collisonโ€™s leadership, built Frontier: a super ambitious pledge to guarantee a market for carbon removal tech. This is all really awesome! Few billionaires have thought harder about how to do a lot of good with their money. But now we have to talk about what the hell Patrick Collison is doing in California. He has given $15 million to โ€˜Building a Better Californiaโ€™, one of the most cynical political campaigns Iโ€™ve seen in a long time. It's the main vehicle fighting Prop 40: a one-time 5% tax on the state's ~200 billionaires (to make up for federal cuts to healthcare for low-income Californians). And look at how this group does it: - Itโ€™s funding an extremely aggressive "No" campaign (opponents are outspending supporters roughly six to one). - It also put two decoy measures on the same ballot. Prop 41 *seems* to be about good governance. Prop 42 is sold as โ€˜protecting your retirement savingsโ€™. But both contain a clause: if either gets more votes than the billionaire tax, the tax is cancelled. - Meanwhile, the retirement story is total nonsense. Prop 40 already exempts pensions. CalMatters calls the deluge of ads misleading and the SF Chronicle calls Prop 41 a โ€˜cynical poison pillโ€™. - The sad reality is that all this misinformation is working though. Polls show small majorities backing the billionaire tax and the measures designed to kill it. You can vote yes on all three and cancel out your own vote. Most people donโ€™t realize this. Through all of it, Collison HASN'T SAID A WORD about why he's funding this slimy campaign. This is a public intellectual who writes thoughtfully about progress. If he believes Prop 40 is bad policy, he should do the honorable thing and make the case! And tell us what he'd rather do about extreme concentrations of wealth and power, or explain why he thinks they aren't a problem for our democracy and civilization. Instead we get silence + $15 million for a campaign built on misinformation and shady political tactics. @patrickc, what are you doing?

We are so close to the final end stage of the Trump era. One month from today, when the midterm elections are over, it begins. It has been more than 10 years that this man has dominated our politics and we are so close to him being gone.

If Bernieโ€™s 5% a year billionaire wealth tax had been enacted in 2012, Elon Musk would be worth less than $365 billion instead of the $1 trillion heโ€™s worth today. Heโ€™d still be the wealthiest man alive & every senior in America would have dental, vision & hearing under Medicare.
BREAKING: Elon Musk's net worth has just surpassed $1 trillion, again. With that money we could make college completely free in America for over a decade.

As voting begins today, the world needs to know what Silicon Valley billionaires are doing to sabotage the billionaire tax now on the ballot in California. This is shocking. ๐Ÿงต
