My former high school student tracked me down 15 years later, kissed me, and then claimed I had gotten her pregnant. There's just one problem: we never had sex.
I'm 53, married, and work as a real estate agent in Chicago.
A few months ago, I received a message from a young woman interested in buying a house. She introduced herself as Vanessa and asked if I could personally show her a few properties.
When I arrived at the first property, something about her face looked familiar.
Then she reminded me.
She had been my student in high school.
She was 28 now, and I was exactly 25 years older than her.
She laughed and said, "You probably don't remember me. I was the quiet girl who never looked up whenever you walked past me in the hallway."
I remembered her.
She was painfully shy, hardly spoke in class, and always seemed to avoid eye contact.
As we walked through the property, she kept making little jokes about how intimidating I used to be as her teacher.
At one point, she said, "You know, I had a huge crush on you back then."
I laughed awkwardly and changed the subject.
But she wasn't joking.
She told me she had regretted never telling me how she felt. She said she was no longer that timid schoolgirl and wanted me to see the woman she had become.
I should have kept things strictly professional.
Instead, I entertained the conversation.
A few days later, she invited me to dinner, supposedly to discuss another property.
I went....

She worked as a nurse on night shifts for 7 years straight while her husband chased his โbig idea.โ
She changed adult diapers, cleaned bedpans, and came home smelling like hospital disinfectant just so he could sit in their tiny one-bedroom and build his tech startup.
Every time investors rejected him, sheโd say:
โBabe, Rome wasnโt built in a day. Iโve got us.โ

I've always found it interesting how people can have good intentions but still make decisions that negatively affect others. It makes me think that having a good heart isn't always enough; sometimes, we also need the awareness to understand how our actions affect the people around us.

My boss gave me ten minutes to approve a 400,000 dollar payment.
"The CEO needs it now," she said. "If it's late, you're fired."
I was twenty-four. I had a new baby and a mortgage.
I picked up the phone anyway.
Company rules said any new supplier had to be confirmed by phone.
Not by email. Not by the number on the invoice.
By the number in our own staff directory.
So I called the CEO directly.

Fomopoly is building something more interesting than just another Web3 game.
What caught my attention is the idea of combining virtual land ownership with an evolving in-game economy.
Players can explore Land Plots, make strategic decisions, generate Stocks, and participate in the $DEAL ecosystem.
The upcoming Free Mint opportunity and the ongoing Rarelist campaign make this an interesting time to follow the project.
But what matters most to me is how the ecosystem develops beyond the initial hype.
I'm keeping an eye on @fomopoly_rh and looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Less hype, more real progress.
