Ooh, I know the answer to this one. It is in large part because the market structures Neil's party did nothing to address during 14 years in office mean gas plays a much bigger role in setting wholesale power prices in the UK than they do in many other economies.

Various supporters of the previous Tory government are blaming green policies for our gas storage cruddy. It was their government who let the Rough gas storage facility close in 2017. It’s about the folly of privatisation, not net zero.
