💰 HOW CAN YOU BUY $BEAM? It's not super easy, but there are a few options. First, please know that in most cases (except maybe MEXC and GATE), liquidity will be low. That's a common curse of coins with low market... So, if you want to buy a lot, be prepared to spread your purchase in small pieces. 🔷🔹🔹 You can see a list of available options in beam.mw/#exchanges. In terms of centralized exchanges, if you stay below certain thresholds (e.g. ~10 BTC), MEXC and GATE won't ask for KYC... until they sometimes randomly do, we don't know why. 👮🪪 CoinEx will certainly ask for KYC. And luckily, NONKYC will never do (as it names implies! 😅). A more decentralized (and certainly non-KYC'ed) way to buy $BEAM is to bridge $ETH or $USDT from Ethereum and then use the Beam DEX to swap them for $BEAM. Both the bridge dApp and the DEX are available right within the desktop wallet. 🌉 Note that $WBTC and $DAI can also be bridged into Beam, but the DEX pools for those are even thinner. If the Beam DEX liquidity is too low for your appetite, you can also publish an OTC offer which will be broadcasted anonymously to all wallets for a period of 12 hours. If someone accepts it, the swap will happen automatically. Head for the "Swap" button in the desktop wallet. 🔁 For OTC, I suggest to publish multiple small offers rather than a single big one, so that people can accept smaller chunks if they want... For the crypto purists, Beam can also do anonymous atomic swaps with many coins (BTC, LTC, ETH, DASH, DOGE...). And guess what... it's all done from within the wallet! I think the broadcast of the offer is currently not working, but you can share its ID elsewhere for people to copy-paste it if they want to accept it… ✨ Lastly, there is also a wrapped version of Beam available on Ethereum, and there's a Uniswap pool for it (the CA is given in beam.mw/#exchanges). This $WBEAM is a transparent Ethereum token, but you can unwrap it back into the Beam blockchain, by using the corresponding dApp (again... available within the desktop wallet! 😁). 🦄 That's it! Try the one method you prefer, and if you have any question, please ask here on X, in Telegram or on Discord. Beam users will be happy to help! 🤝 Welcome to Beam! 😘

So basically, today PHP got two critical bugs that let anyone run code on your server without even logging in, which is bad, and then the details leaked before the patch was even out, which is worse, and it works on WordPress and MediaWiki and Magento and Joomla and Laravel, and Censys says like 1.5 million servers are running a version with no fix, so the NSA was like "take your system offline," and the FBI was like "take your system offline," and CISA and the UK and CERT-EU were all like "take your system offline," and then the Prime Minister of Japan, the actual Prime Minister, posted at 5:55 in the morning telling 48.8 million people to take their system offline, so everyone took their system offline, like the Dutch cybersecurity agency took its own website offline, and the Dutch parliament went offline, and the Port of Rotterdam went offline, and Finland and France and Denmark started pulling government sites, and Wikipedia went down, and Archive.org went down, and Asana and GOG and Something Awful went down, and the University of Vienna's webmail went down for some reason, and that's just PHP. Because GitLab also dropped a CVSS 10.0, which is the highest score they give out, for a bug that's been there since 2014, so that's every self-hosted GitLab for twelve years, and then LiteLLM 1.107.0 got hijacked and shipped a credential stealer and a remote access trojan in every single wheel and the Docker images, including latest, and you didn't even have to import it, just installing it was enough, and it's the second time this year, and then Railway paused every deployment on the entire platform because someone got into the environment variables, so now everyone has to rotate every secret they've ever stored there, and TiDB Cloud said someone was walking around inside with stolen credentials for basically a month and an extortion group says they took 10.6 terabytes, and Zeabur got breached for the second time in two months and is just shutting down, like the whole company, and Node.js patched remote code execution and a TLS bypass, and CISA says Plex is being actively exploited, and someone took over 300 Tor exit relays to steal SSH passwords, and SafePay ransomware has hit over 600 critical infrastructure orgs, and India's biggest bank filed a data loss incident, and Japan has been in an official state of emergency in cyberspace since October 9, which honestly explains the 5:55 AM post. Oh, and eMudhra, a certificate authority that's issued over 60 million certificates, whose entire job is proving websites are who they say they are, was supposed to be using private keys that are random numbers over a hundred digits long, and one of them was 4. Just 4. And the others were like 66 and 237. Anyway, it's Wednesday.

70,000 trades on BEAM DEX, and counting! Smart contracts onchain. Front ends running locally, right inside the wallet. No server to shut down, no interface to censor! Private and permissionless swapping of confidential assets. This is what Privacy DeFi actually looks like! 😎

True DeFi requires changing the way we envision software maintenance…
Immutability has a cost. If a flaw can’t be patched, it can only be replaced by a new version users choose to move to. We think change should be opt-in.

That’s a good summary of how to use privacy coins. Get in, stay in, use them. Don't treat privacy coins like a revolving door.

Oh! Good news! @MeileDVPN 's decentralized VPN will be using Beam's confidential assets and smart contracts to manage their token! How cool is that? 🤩 Privcay DeFi with real life privacy use cases? That's amazing!
The new $dVPN private token has launched on @beamprivacy Initial Mint: 1,000,000 Max Supply: 48,000,000 Asset ID/CA: 208 DEX Pool ID: 209 Liquidity: 1000 $BEAM / 500,000 $dVPN Unit Price: $0.00002056 @beamprivacy is unique in that it is a private-by-default blockchain with smart contracts. That makes sending and receiving $dVPN a privacy coin as sender, recipient, and amount are all hidden. Will this be the new asset used by decentralized VPNs? Only time will tell. We never had intentions on launching a token, but we just couldnt restrain ourselves with the ongoing silly trademarks in a permissionless finance world. The owners, us, hold 500,000 $dVPN. An emission schedule for the remaining 47M will be devised and most likely will be an asset whose emission is controlled by smart contracts and is backed by $BEAM if we can progess that far. Right now 1M $dVPN is backed by 2000 $BEAM. We will look into ways of providing transparency of this asset in the near future. For now, users can verify mints in the Beam Asset dapp within the desktop wallet. Permissionless and privacy are key ingredients to a sovereign individual and no one will take that away from us! $BEAM $dVPN

Just start with something. Step by step. Another browser, another search engine, a password manager, a VPN, Signal for messaging, Venice for AI, etc. And... less exposing personal stuff on social media. 😉
Your threat model is not the same as Snowden’s And that’s fine, start where you are

Indeed... And the bare minimum for any so-called "privacy coin", so that even newcomers get some network privacy without needing to even know about it, is for the protocol to use Dandelion++. Just that, please.
All privacy coins need network level privacy in order to have actual privacy. On-chain privacy while exposing your IP address can be dangerous. Protect yourself🛡️ ethereum:0x525a8f6f3ba4752868cde25164382bfbae3990e1

#BeamDidYouKnow difference between the $BEAM and $BEAMX token. $BEAM is the gas and utility token of the Beam ecosystem - rewarded to miners, used as tx fees etc. $BEAMX is the governance token, which is staked to vote on DAO proposals, shaping the future of #Beam.

Nice reply to @VitalikButerin by @dbadol2000 👇 I agree w Vitalik, #PrivacyMatters! A big advantage @beamprivacy has over @ethereum, the blockchain can shrink over time. It is a lightweight chain: ✅ No Wallet Addresses save on-chain ✅ No TX history is saved on-chain
You know what? Beam is to Ethereum what Monero is to Bitcoin. 😉 @BeamPrivacy, the privacy chain with smart contracts!

Yep. Imagine a blockchain with smart contracts… but a privacy-by-default blockchain. That would be crazy, isn’t it? @BeamPrivacy 😉

Oh yes, Beam is way too much visible. Look at this gigantic market cap! A real threat to the surveillance lords! Let’s suspend a dev’s GitHub. And let’s keep them all out of the official X account. See? People are safe now!… 🙄
(1/x) My @github account has now been suspended since the 24th. I expected the Github support to be able to quickly tell me what happened and reinstate my account, but no. Silence. The first ticket was actually closed before I could even reply and no reply on the second.

Viewkeys already exist. Anyone who needs to comply can selectively disclose. Compliance is a human action. People comply, not tools. Forcing transparency into the protocol itself isn't "compliance". It's surveillance by default, consent by coercion.
There are “privacy coins” that promote themselves as “regulatory compliant”. Understand that these are not privacy coins, they’re financial spyware. If a is not private-by-default and is willing to capitulate to regulations for the sake of adoption… It’s going to compromise you. Take caution. Check out Monero, Zano, Tari, Beam, Epic, and Pirate to see what doesn’t compromise.

Reality check. 😅 Amazing. 😊 Let’s keep building and moving forward. But without pretending we are already there. 👍🏼
we're heading towards complete retardation man. the vast majority of the world is not fucking ready for self-sovereignty and probably never will be. wallets have sucked ass at protecting normal users for over a decade. seed phrases & private keys are an utterly shit security model for humans (oh, and multisigs are great but people protect their 3/5 multisig with the same seed, so also full retard mode). and yet we're still pretending this is the future of finance. it's fucking not. most of this industry is a VC exit-liquidity circle jerk where the end user ultimately eats the loss in some form. maybe the answer isn't mass adoption. maybe the answer is staying fucking small. small, weird, technical, paranoid, adversarial, and hard to capture. the smaller and more niche we stay, the more dangerous and long-lasting this industry becomes. being small is a feature.
