If you conduct or use single cell RNA-seq data from both humans and mice in your lab, this preprint releases a very useful tool called scVital. Developed by @dbetel (with a cameo by @TuomasTammela) scVital enables cross species interrogation and integration of cell states, and is benchmarked for batch correction. While cancer tissues are the obvious choice for species agnostic state integration (for example see #PancreaticCancer mouse & human scRNA-seq overlay below), scVital can be applied to any normal tissue for state & cell type integration across species (see supplementary data for examples). At first look, this totally beats looking at list of genes on overlapping Venn diagrams!

Several years in the making (and aging), @Xueqian_Zhuang 's study on aging is out today @Nature. She finds, surprisingly, that aging suppresses tumorigenesis and stemness in the lung by promoting a functional iron insufficiency in the alveolar epithelium. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

Congrats to @NatSaurat. Fantastic work demonstrating inhibition of neddylation increases aging and selective loss of neurons. A major step forward in stem cell modeling of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

How to trigger age-related features in hPSC neurons? In a CRISPR screen @NatSaurat identified neddylation inhibition as a tool to trigger hallmarks of aging in neurons and selective degeneration in AD or PD but not isogenic control neurons. @cellstemcell bit.ly/3XBxCsA

What kind of sick bastards kill dogs for pleasure? Bonita was an 8-year-old Labrador, a big bundle of cuteness with kind eyes that charmed everyone who met her. During the terrorist attack in Israel, one of Hamas's terrorists saw her innocently approaching him, and in exchange, he shot her 3 times, killing her.
