Absolute horror on Al Jazeera. Live footage confirms the US and Israel are actively following through on threats to bomb civilian railway lines in Iran. Rescue workers are desperately pulling innocent commuters from the wreckage. These war crimes are sickening.

NEW: We recently heard that the Trump administration was leaning on the government of Gambia to help Elon Musk. For weeks, we made phone calls, wrote letters and knocked on folks’ doors to try to confirm it. But we were stuck.

Israel’s military said on Monday that it was aiming to kill journalist Hassan Esleih — a journalist who has contributed photography and videography to Mada Masr along with many other regional and international outlets — in a bombing which struck a tent where more than 10 journalists were sheltering on Monday. The attack killed two people and injured Esleih, as well as eight others.
Originally from Khan Younis, Esleih’s work over two years of devastating aggression on the strip has documented countless airstrikes, successive waves of displacement, dire humanitarian conditions, prisoners’ accounts of arrest and detention, and the hazards of aerial aid-drops as well as community education and festive initiatives still taking place amid the war.
The attack on continues an increasingly aggressive series of assaults in which Israeli forces have targeted and killed over 200 journalists working in Gaza to cover the genocide.

The exhibition Photo Kegham of Gaza: Unboxing offers a rare glimpse into Gaza’s rich photographic past through the lens of Kegham Djeghalian, one of the strip’s first photographers. Curated by his grandson, Kegham Djeghalian Jr., the exhibition reconstructs a visual archive lost to war and displacement, presenting an alternative image of Gaza — one that resists the flattening humanitarian gaze.
Sara Rifky explores how Djeghalian’s archive disrupts narratives of devastation surrounding Gaza by restoring a picture of everyday life: families, celebrations, political figures and cultural vibrancy. In a moment when Gaza is relentlessly documented through destruction, these images challenge the dominant visual discourse, offering not just memory but a vision of Gaza “as whole, rooted and undeniable,” Rifky writes.

One of my most vivid memories is when three journalists and I were in Eastern Jabalia and we needed to connect our esims to edit and upload content of a massacre. We went to a home in Tal Al Zataar, a hill, as higher areas tend to have better connection.
We sat in a room but the connection was not good so I suggested we go into the other room. Less than 5 minutes later, the room we were in got bombed. People came over running thinking that we were killed but luckily there were only injuries.
This was one of the many times that I was moments away from death. I know that I’m targeted as a Palestinian but also as a journalist. Every single day I step out of my house and put on my vest press and I look behind at my family, not sure if I’ll see them again.
I hope you understand the risks we are taking to show you the truth. Even 15 months later, we continue to go out every single day and document the horrors that people in Gaza experience. We do this so that when God asks what did you do, we respond with “we did what we could.”
