I was opportune to speak with @CHIEFIKENGA today. I must say, there are a few people out there that are great builders with a track record. It all started with a tweet from a couple years ago that @ifiokambrosee found. And I came to realize that he built and scaled a great product @Yandinigeria. He walked us through his journey and shared valuable lessons learned. I was taking notes from the beginning till the end of the call. When in rooms with people of substance you dare not speak, listen and gain understanding. One thing I took form our discussion was his ability to know when and where to pivot to. The ability to know when you're early and what to be early for. He built and scaled Yandi and knew when to move to the next thing which worked and now he's working on @Clapmihq, the twitch of Africa. One thing about trying to build in the Nigerian market with non-Nigerian methods is that you're using methods that are meant to work in an ideal society in a society that isn't ideal. We explored many ways to approach this and hurdles I'd probably face along the way building @depmidotcom We attacked the chicken and egg problem, complaince, logistics, partnerships and a broad set of topics worth noting. Even Ifiok got to speak about @zykedotsocial the online forum. And how it's been going so far. For someone with more than a decade of experience building in tech I must say he's one of the most outspoken yet humble persons I've come across, he spoke to us like with listening ears and answered our questions with patience.
