Houston is home to an estimated 70,000+ refugees from more than 78 countries, making it one of the top resettlement destinations in the nation.
Refugees bring strength, resilience, and hope to our city, rebuilding their lives while enriching Houston’s culture and community. I'm honored they chose Houston as home and stand with them as they continue writing their next chapter here.

"It's all sprawl!" It's certainly a lot, and hey, that's how cities always and everywhere boom. But it's also a lot of infill. It's a lot of everything, because Houston defaults to "let people do things," warts and all. This is what real, existing American abundance looks like.

It's funny, Houston is this supernova of growth, the rare place in the US that is absorbing millions of domestic and international migrants and making them richer, but if you say anything nice about it, e.g. maybe non-zoning is fine, people have a meltdown.

All the City of Houston has to do on the matter is follow the City of Austin's policy.
Instead the mayor and chief of police are holding pressers blaming "young officers" instead of owning the fact that the mayor's policy is designed to foster maximal collaboration with ICE.
Houston Police Chief Noe Diaz announced Wednesday that federal immigration officers will be given a 30-minute window to respond to calls from city police officers about people they encounter who have administrative immigration warrants. 🔗 bit.ly/4s2hQ6f

The #Olympics2026 curling arena is amazing. An outdoor wooden structure built as the main arena for the 1956 Olympics. A roof was built to cover the rink in the 1980’s but it remained open air. For these games, it’s been completely enclosed with a new structure fit into the old.

This is a lie.
Even if I had ordered this, the MPLS police department would never follow an order from me.
Do better. Go fuck a couch.

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.

Every Democratic member of Congress should be on a plane to Minneapolis right now to join the people protesting in the streets. Federal elected officials should physically place themselves between the public and these dangerous thugs sent to terrorize this American city.

I can't stop thinking of Mr Rogers. Mr Rogers said look for the helpers, and right now the helpers have a target on our forehead ... Mr Rogers would be here right now too, so I'm here."
