My bet, at this very moment, Elon is not even playing in the same sandbox as Anthropic and OpenAI… PURPOSEFULLY. At the moment, Elon is building out MASSIVE inference, for the Optimus Fleet (Army!). The Optimus program and products will be the MASSIVE revenue driver for every other of his programs, thoughts and dreams. Training and inference is VERY DIFFERENT for Optimus, compared to what we now call Frontier Models. My take: the simple fact that Grok is even in the current discussion of Frontier models, being that’s not what its focused intent is, is a testament in itself.

Grok 4.6 reasoning is HORRENDOUS! Circular, constantly doubling back on egregious mistakes. In the Grok app on an iPhone, it completely ignores custom “Customization”, completely ignores the settings toggle for “Memory”… and almost COMPLETELY ignores initial conversation system prompts!!! GROK is basically useless!!!!
