An historic moment. President Trump has defied Congress, including many of his own loyalists, to come to the aid of Vladimir Putin. The global sanctions regime is going to buckle. As a Canadian, I'll say it again: America is not our enemy. Trump is.

The reality is finally sinking in. First by stealth and subterfuge, now openly, the American president is aiding and abetting the enemy.

Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin.

One thing Elon Musk is indisputably great at is getting superb engineers and giving them the means to work. SpaceX is the best example.
Ironically, because his fans treat their accomplishments as if they are Musk's own, that's the one thing he is seldom credited for.
Apparently Elon Musk single-handedly ended the Great (technological) Stagnation. We know this because Musk’s engineers used compressed air thrusters — a technology pioneered in the 1950s — to make a car spin and land safely.
In recent years, Peter Thiel has repeatedly, and convincingly, advanced the argument that, contrary to popular belief, we live in a period of technological stagnation.
Since the 1970s, he argues, innovation in almost all areas of human endeavor has ground to a halt. The fact that the world of bits was a notable exception had blinded us to just how little progress had been made in other domains.
The post-WWII generations dreamed of a future filled with flying cars and humanity colonizing other planets, visions immortalized in science fiction. These dreams never materialized, though, and at some point, it seemed they never would, at least not in the foreseeable future.
Until one man decided to commit his fortune and ambition to reviving those dreams and turning them into reality. And the rest is history.
How exhilarating it is to live through the end of the Great Stagnation, and how humbling it is for us all to stand on the shoulders of this giant as he blazes the trail toward a different kind of future.

People do know there have been flying cars -- literal flying cars, not Elon's temporarily-airborne car -- off and on for most of the past century... right? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying…
OMG! This changes everything! Elon Musk is a god!!! This ... Oh, yeah. Never mind. youtube.com/watch?v=iNUppNTT…
Elon fans are a special breed. Here's one sneering at Bill Gates for, you know, spending billions of dollars on saving the lives of vast numbers of innocent people, most of them children. Because flying car!
Yes, if we ask trillionaires to pay their fair share we will suffer a terrible reduction in shameless marketing stunts that combine existing technologies to produce a completely useless new technology that looks wicked cool. How would humanity survive?

People who lose their minds for silly PR stunts like this -- "THE FUTURE!" -- are the sort of gullible P.T. Barnum encountered in his sweetest dreams.

If Putin stops fighting, the war ends. If Zelensky stops fighting then his country will be occupied, leaders murdered, language banned, businesses stolen, children kidnapped. That's what happens in Russian-occupied Ukraine.
A bio with "Alberta Patriot" in it has now passed "critical thinker" as an indication that you're about to read some gobsmackingly dumb commentary.
Canada, I’m warning you now.
When Carney signs that associate member deal with the EU, here’s what happens next, step by step.
First, Trump doesn’t wait.
He doesn’t send a diplomat.
He doesn’t call a summit.
He just acts. Energy gets hit first because that’s where Canada hurts most. Oil and gas flowing south slows down or stops.
Not because Trump hates Canada, but because it’s the fastest way to make the point that choosing Europe has a price.
Then it spreads. Autos, steel, aluminum, lumber, potash, beef.
Every sector that depends on the American markte feels it within weeks, not years.
The Canadian dollar drops.
Interest rates climb.
Provinces start cutting services because the money isn’t coming in like it used to.
Europe won’t save us. They’ll issue statements. They’ll hold meetings. They’ll say they’re standing with Canada.
But they can’t buy what we sell, they can’t ship it across the ocean at the same cost, and they can’t protect us if it turns into something worse than a trade fight.
An associate membership gives them influence over our rules without giving us anything that actually replaces what we’re losing.
And here’s the part that should scare you most.
This isn’t about one election or one prime minister.
It’s about whether Canada stays a country that controls its own future or become a place where outside powers decide what we can and can’t do.
The Monroe Doctrine was written 200 hundred years ago to keep Europe out.
Trump is using it now to keep everyone out, including us if we don’t play along.
You can call it fearmongering. You can call it politics. But the math doesn’t care what you call it.
Three out of four things we sell go south.
No deal with Brussels changes that. Not now, not in five years, not in twenty.
So before you cheer for this and lift your elbows higher ask the people selling it one simple question.
What exactly replaces the American market?
Because if they can’t answer that, they’re not leading. They’re just hoping you won’t notice.
We seem to be on a suicide mission and signing that Associate Membership with the EU is just tightening the noose!
This isn’t a game!
This is almost word-for-word what happened with Henry Ford into the early 1920s. It didn't end well for Ford. I expect it won't end well for Musk.

He was not my first or second choice for the nomination but unquestionably my favorite 2026 trend is that leftists are for free trade now.
That’s because @MikeRogersForMI is not a serious person. Canada Tariffs have destroyed jobs and cost us money. He just doesn’t want to say it straight because it would trigger Donald.

Whoever thought Carney would just be a technocratic prime minister should watch this. Perfect timing…
