Paul , the breathtaking hypocrisy of this would be almost comical if the subject weren't so serious.
So let's get this right before we assume too much: you want unionism to stop looking inwards and focus exclusively on Sinn Féin's alleged lawbreaking? Seriously, Paul? With the DUP's record?
Let's refresh your memory. Your former party leader was recently convicted of appalling sexual offences and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Let's not forget William Ball, Former DUP councillor, convicted of historical sexual offences; oh, and Thomas Hogg, Former DUP mayor, convicted of attempting to incite a 15-year-old boy to engage in sexual activity. What about Ian Stevenson, Former DUP councillor and mayor, convicted of sexual assault, and William Wilkinson, Former DUP councillor, convicted of rape.
And then there is Desmond Stewart, former DUP mayor, jailed for electoral fraud involving care-home votes. Jeysus Paul, Quite the collection of criminal convictions for a party whose representatives seem perpetually determined to lecture everyone else about law and order. And we're not finished, Paul.
Gavin Robinson, your CURRENT party leader, has faced police scrutiny over alleged unlawful road obstruction at Ballybeen. Have you convicted him in your Kangaroo court, just like you have Michelle O'Neill and Mary lou McDonald, given tht they are the same thing?
Sammy Wilson has faced a parliamentary standards investigation over an alleged failure to declare an interest and Gregory Campbell has faced an investigation concerning parliamentary office spending.
Neither parliamentary investigation should be mistaken for a criminal conviction, but surely scrutiny and accountability matter regardless of political allegiance? And how could we forget Iris Robinson, former DUP MP and MLA, at the centre of the notorious £50,000 financial scandal involving her former lover? Accountability matters, correct? And we haven't even mentioned RHI and Arlene Foster, the sectarian remarks and slander over the decades from party leaders and MPs from within the DUP directly demoinsing catholics
Yet your message to unionism is effectively, Don't look at any of that. Keep pointing at Sinn Féin. You couldn't invent this stuff. When you demand sanctions for political opponents while actively discouraging scrutiny within your own political tradition, you're inviting some very uncomfortable questions about double standards.
Perhaps the most revealing part of your statement is the suggestion that examining unionism's own conduct somehow amounts to punishing unionists. No, Paul. It's called accountability.
The rule of law is not a DUP pick-and-mix where republicans get the lectures and unionists get the benefit of political solidarity.
If you genuinely believe nobody is above the law, demonstrate it consistently.
Because demanding accountability from everyone else while telling your own side to stop looking in the mirror isn't principled leadership. It's political double standards dressed up as moral authority.
Thinking we could add Shannon/Campbell/Wilson/Paisley and off course Donaldson who is convicted and in the process off being questioned over more offences @few people need to check around their own backyard before looking around others!

Ah, the selective outrage is quite something. Apparently, a government minister being interviewed by the police is now an unprecedented event that no democracy could possibly tolerate.
Really? Where the feck have you been for the last 30 years?
Remember DUP councillor Ruth Patterson, who was arrested in 2013 over comments concerning a hypothetical attack on a republican parade or former DUP MP Iris Robinson who was questioned by police during an investigation into her financial affairs.
Surely you remember UUP councillor and former MLA Derek Hussey who was arrested and questioned following a road traffic incident. Ohh and DUP councillor Thomas Hogg faced police action and was charged with drink-driving.
How can you forget Loyalist protest organiser Willie Frazer who was arrested during the 2013 flags dispute.
Your own armchair loyalist Jamie Bryson was arrested during the loyalist protests and subsequently convicted of offences involving unlawful processions and obstructing traffic.
And let’s not forget current DUP leader Gavin Robinson, who attended a 2025 anti-immigration demonstration involving allegations of road obstruction. The PSNI is reviewing footage for potential offences.
These cases involved different allegations, circumstances and outcomes. But they certainly demonstrate that police scrutiny of unionist politicians and prominent loyalist figures is nothing new
Here’s the particularly delicious irony, when Patterson was arrested, the DUP complained that she should have been offered a voluntary police interview.
Now Michelle O’Neill attends a voluntary interview, cooperates with the PSNI, and suddenly we’re supposed to believe democracy itself is under threat!
Give over, for goodness’ sake.
If Michelle O’Neill broke the law, let the investigation and courts determine that. Nobody should be above the law.
But an interview is not a conviction. And neither the right to parade nor the right to protest is absolute.
The principle is straightforward, the same law, the same scrutiny and the same accountability for everyone.
Not one standard for unionist politicians and loyalist protesters and another for Michelle O’Neill.
That’s what equality before the law actually means.

I tell you what Carla, thats some brass neck, lecturing anyone about criminality, terrorism or the rule of law.
At Scarva, your own barrister reportedly claimed you attended at the PSNI’s request, yet the PSNI subsequently disputed that any such invitation had been issued, so a blatant lie. That contradiction deserves a proper explanation, but you get to dodge that one, as the DUP don’t seem to think morality applies to them
Now you are. demanding accountability over republican paramilitarism. But tell me this Carla, where’s the same relentless scrutiny of the UVF and UDA, their control of drug dealing in NI , extortion, intimidation and the grip they maintain on loyalist communities?
And this is precisely the double standard the DUP needs to answer for. Why does its rhetoric about paramilitaries so often appear to depend on whether the organisation is republican or loyalist?
Why are nationalist residents’ concerns dismissed while loyalist objections receive an entirely different hearing?
Carla you fit so. comfortably into a DUP political tradition that critics argue views these issues through a sectarian lens.
The Chief Constable has a duty to protect every community, not deliver the policing outcomes demanded by one political party.
You party are pushing society towards things that were left in the past, we hoped forgotten, but the DUP is never one to miss an opportunity, here you are shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues on the wrong side of history again. Your community deserve better

Jamie, are you seriously lecturing an entire community about “supremacism” and being “above the law”? It would be hilarious if the rhetoric weren’t so poisonous for Christs sake
You were convicted of possessing an extendable baton and later convicted over FOUR unnotified processions, convictions you unsuccessfully appealed.
Yet apparently Jamie has appointed himself NI’s very own Professor of Law and Order
Then we get the sermon about “hatred” from someone with an astonishing blind spot when the terrorism happens to be loyalist. You have defended the proposition that the UVF were not terrorists, characterised loyalist paramilitary violence as “counter terrorism”, and repeatedly attended a commemoration for UVF commander Robert “Squeak” Seymour.
I am sure the victims and families of UVF terroism would welcome knowing that the UVF were engaged in “counter terrorism” rather than terrorism
That’s quite the CV from which to deliver lectures on extremism.
And what exactly is this supposed “nationalist supremacism”? Nationalists having equal political power? Residents saying no? Unionism discovering that “we demand it” no longer automatically means “we get it”?
That’s not supremacy, Jamie. That’s equality
The giveaway is always the same, when unionism doesn’t get precisely what it wants, you portray compromise as surrender, equality as persecution and nationalism as some existential threat.
Perhaps the problem isn’t that “unionism must give and nationalism must get”.
Perhaps it’s that the old days when unionism could simply dictate and nationalism was expected to know its place are gone.
Nobody gets to dominate NI anymore.
And if equality feels like oppression, perhaps examine the sense of entitlement rather than screaming “supremacism” at everyone else.
A convicted lawbreaker with a remarkable penchant for sanitising the UVF preaching about the rule of law and nationalist “hatred” isn’t political analysis.
It’s self-parody.

🇳🇴 As a Norwegian, let me just say to this man; the only embarrassment we feel, is second hand embarrassment for the fact that you even think you should have one.
The man who cuddles up with the worst war criminals of our time, who just attacked another country to get their resources, and now threatens to do the same to several other nations, including occupying one of our neighbors.
To the man who does nothing but praise russia, that’s waging a genocidal war in Europe, and even refuse to call russia out as the aggressor & terrorist state that they are.
The man who never condemn a single one of russias massive attacks on Ukraine, when they bomb residential buildings & murder civilians, but instead continue to purely put pressure and disrespect on the victims of this war and comes up with the absurd statements like saying Ukraine “does bad things too” simply for defending themselves and their country.
To the man who created a force unit that now goes door to door in his own nation, tearing families apart without proper due process, abusing people who cleans up your mess, harvest your food and build your homes. A force who now also will unlawfully arrest and even shoot and kill their own citizens, and be praised for it!!
The man who does nothing for his people’s welfare and healthcare, but brags about his corrupted deals, building real estate on the dead bodies of children in another country.
The man who has tasked his family and friends with international trading and crypto schemes in order to enrich his name own name.
The man who flashes gold and build ballrooms for his billionaire friends, while his own people can barely afford rent and carry the nation with the taxes they pay from their hard earned labor, while he and his super wealthy associates gets tax evasions and continue hosting their lavish parties of corruption!
So to sum up; No! We Norwegians are far from embarrassed over you not getting a Peace Price. And our nation is far from getting decimated. In fact, feel free to look at our ranking of wellbeing, safety, growth and equality compared to yours, maybe you’ll be the one who’ll feel a bit embarrassed.

Genuine question.
I have heard a thousand times that Yom Kippur is the holiest days in the Jewish calendar, when Jews do virtually nothing for 25 hours.
So, why were Israel bombing Lebanon and Gaza all through Yom Kippur? Killing at least 53 Palestinians?
