I'm not going to share this ad, in which forces apparently aligned with @VivekGRamaswamy unconscionably mines @amyactonoh's family tragedy to advance his unquenchable ambition to become governor of OH.
I've been around politics longer than he's been alive, and I don't think I've ever seen anything uglier. The ad and Vivek's failure to repudiate it tells us so much more about him than his opponent.
The NYT has a full account of the attack ad using Amy Acton's mother, her brother's response, and the 1978 indictment of her stepfather on rape charges when she was a child

That this man, who clearly has no respect for the First Amendment, is a gatekeeper to the White House press room is shameful.

To say the very least on this, the congressman is incorrect on the law.
Two-party consent is relevant only to private oral conversations, and he has zero expectation of privacy here.
1st Amendment gives you the right to record public officials in public places as long as you're not interfering with their official duties.

A terrible loss. She was the world's premiere infectious disease reporter -- an icon for all of us in public health science and journalism alike.
It is hard to believe that Helen Branswell has passed away. Just heartbreaking.
On January 4, 2020, Helen wrote STAT's first story on a mystery pneumonia outbreak in China. She saw the pandemic coming well before anyone was paying attention.
Helen was a journalist who knew more than most of the experts she interviewed. She understood the science, the history and the politics of every outbreak she covered. She asked the hardest (and best) questions and never let me get away with a vague answer
Experts learned from her. I certainly did
It's hard to imagine a world of pandemics, biological threats and so much more without a Helen Branswell to explain it all.

Oh, no. @helenbranswell was one of my journalism heroes.
We are devastated STAT over the loss of our beloved colleague @HelenBranswell

"The New York Times reviewed time-stamped images from a security camera at Mr. Talarico’s home, which were provided by his campaign on the condition they not be published for security reasons. The images showed Mr. Talarico at the home between Oct. 1 and Oct. 8."
SCOOP: @nytimes reviewed time-stamped security camera images showing @jamestalarico was, in fact, at his home in Austin on Oct. 1-8.

One of the heroes of American journalism is this Canadian, who has single-handedly researched and catalogued thousands of lies by our president.
I started fact-checking Donald Trump 10 years ago this month. Here are 15 thoughts on the nature of his lying, how it is received by the public and how it is covered by the media: cnn.com/2026/09/27/politics/…

The truth about Biden banning conservative reporters: It didn’t happen. Even Musk’s right-leaning Grok says so.

My fellow Americans: Please direct your attention to this matter for just a moment. Allow this to sink in. The President of the United States of America just said he wants to ban the free press. He said he doesn’t want them in his office, which by the way is the Oval Office in the People’s House. This is unheard of, and we the people cannot let this be!
For the record, we have a free press in this country. For the record we should all be worried not just about this latest outburst, but by all of it going forward without permission — putting our service members in harms way, raising tariffs willy nilly, threatening buildings and institutions unless his name gets put on them. This is not the behavior of a centered leader who is focused on the good of the people. This is not the behavior of a compassionate leader focused on the millions of Americans who cannot afford healthcare, childcare, gas, or food. This is not the behavior of a man who can emotionally regulate himself.
We should all be concerned — those who voted for him and those who didn’t. The midterms are around the corner. Vote like your life and the lives of others are at stake, because they are. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

This, journalism students, is an example of the worst kind of clickbait, a horrendously bad tweet that makes it sound as though Travis Kelce was scamming people, when in fact he was a victim. C'mon, @thedailybeast, do better.
Prosecutors said Kelce was involved in a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme. thedailybeast.com/obsessed/t…
Maybe I'm just not as smart as @BariWeiss and @NickBilton, but if I was trying to prove that @60Minutes was not going to be a White House mouthpiece, I probably wouldn't have kicked off the season with a piece orchestrated by the "Secretary of War."
