The glymphatic system is how the brain clears waste. Cerebrospinal fluid flows in along channels surrounding arteries, mixes with the fluid between brain cells, picks up metabolic waste like amyloid-beta and tau, and drains out along veins into the lymphatic system. Heartbeat, breathing, and rhythmic pulsing of blood vessels help push it through.
A key player is aquaporin-4, a water channel packed onto the astrocyte “endfeet” that wrap blood vessels, which helps fluid move quickly between compartments. The system works best during deep sleep, when the space between brain cells expands and lowered norepinephrine helps drive fluid flow. The details are still debated, but the core idea that sleep supports brain waste clearance is well supported.

A correction. This was a promo video for a documentary, not a conference. Admittedly I didn't watch much past the "most important research in human history" claim. My bad.

Been working on a system for automatically converting DMT hallucination descriptions into video.
it puts out some wacky stuff 🤔
I wasnt referring to researchers... i was referring to the general field of endogenous psychedelic research which directly affects every human.
Its a documentary trailer not a conference man.
Meant to create excitement for the film release.

I'm sorry - I didn't repost the video or tag you as I didn't want to be insulting or personal but just to make the general point. I should have realized the referent might be clear to some. I realize you were talking about the researchers (whom I respect and like) not yourself. So please take it as a general critique of the field. It sounds like an interesting meeting, and I wish you luck with it. It's important work - even if not the most important in history :)
The biggest ego
Just saw a psychedelic conference post saying it was "the most important research in human history." The egos in psychedelic research are next level. I used to hear this stuff all the time at Hopkins, about this research saving the human species. I've been doing psychedelic research for 22 years and I don't even do the most important research in my own family!! (my wife does research informing how to save babies deprived of oxygen during childbirth).

Your brain makes one of the most powerful psychedelics on Earth.
Right now. As you read this.
It’s called DMT. And a new documentary is digging into why.
DMT Quest 2 hits IMAX Tue 11/17/26 in Austin, TX. @dmt_quest
This is the trailer. My thread will talk about the first film. 🧵

Wrong!! The ‘Gran Sasso’ experiment was a botched hit job and totally dishonest. They tested the Diosi version of quantum gravity OR collapse versus the Penrose version, both predicting OR at time t =h/E_G. But Diosi predicted energy would be generated and Penrose said no energy would be detected. They (including Diosi) did the experiment under Gran Sasso mountain and NO energy was detected, validating Penrose OR. But they then claimed the assumptions must be wrong and changed the superposition separation distance 4 orders of magnitude larger, smearing the separation distance. Ironically the smear repeated Tegmark’s apparent ‘mistake’ of 7 orders of magnitude smearing which was disproved, but still wrongly cited as refuting Orch OR. By smearing the superposition separation distance the Gran Sass-holes seemingly invalidated both Diosi and Penrose versions, so they then applied it (for no apparent reason other than to refute SOMETHING and claimed to refute Orch OR. Total bullshit. They should be ashamed. Gran Sass-holes!

Problem is, "pure" OR has been falsified by the Gran Sasso experiments. Beside, wiggle room for modified OR is being shut by Arndt's detection of macroscopic superpositions. The brain may well be a quantum device, but OR is just a waste of time

You can change the subject but can’t change the fact AI is clueless about consciousness because it follows cartoon neurocomputation and suppresses Orch OR, the only theory with evidence. Do you disagree?

Integration means eventually not needing psychedelics anymore.
And I think that scares a lot of people.
Because "I do psychedelics" can absolutely become another ego you're terrified of losing.
That's why I'm so hard for meditation.

The statement that the brain is ‘too warm and wet’ for quantum mechanisms is in the same category as ‘the earth is flat and the sun revolves around it.’ As anesthesiologists know, anesthesia acts and consciousness occurs in nonpolar aromatic water-excluding regions which support quantum optical effects.

‘Too warm and wet’
is repeated endlessly.
Why haven’t the @anirbanbandyo experimental results cut through to the scientific discourse
