His parents placed him on the windowsill despite the risk so that he could breathe, and this saved Kai's life. "It was one of the hardest decisions we could have made. On the one hand if you leave him inside the room he will probably inhale a lethal amount of smoke, and that can be horrible. On the other hand if I put him on the windowsill the terrorists are still walking around...The worst thoughts came up."
We are so relieved that Kai and his family are now safe.
