Summer heat is here. Farm workers & other outdoor workers desperately need federal heat standards to save lives. With the government's shift to the right, the need has grown. Sign our petition telling @OSHA_DOL to implement emergency heat rules NOW! ufw.org/oshaemergencyheat #Calor

No one: I'd like a complete overview of the copyright status, according to the providing museum, of every digitised Vermeer painting featured in the Rijksmuseum's blockbuster show. Me: ✋ douglasmccarthy.com/2023/03/… #OpenGLAM #Copyright #Museums #OpenAccess

It's been a while, so I thought I'd give you a quick #pictor update. The repository now has +6M @iiif_io manifests, while the discovery features +85K. Over the holidays, I added the feature to limit searches with specific collections. Check it out! tomdeneire.github.io/pictor/

I wrote an article in Code4Lib about how current DAMS-style digital repositories don’t work with archival methods, which is not widely understood by admins and technologists. I journal.code4lib.org/article…

While working in our archives, I found an old metal box. Inside was a long-forgotten roll of silent 8mm film marked "The Philippines 1942" Excited at possibly discovering lost WW II footage, I sent it to specialists for care and digitization. Yesterday, it came back. On it was:

It's #ArchivesHashtagParty and today we are thinking about #ArchivesSustainability. We are phasing out plastic paperclips in favor of paper folders, which are more sustainable and less damaging to our collections.

Bindings, bindings, bindings! Fab thread showing most of the display put together for a visit by the Society of Bookbinders this week - it was a pleasure to be part of this. – at Oxford, England
A visit from the Society of Bookbinders is the perfect opportunity for a mega-thread of medieval bindings. In chronological order (more or less): 1. MS. Broxb. 83.1, blind-tooled Romanesque binding, Paris, 12th century - lovely dragon stamps and clasps

Be sure to explore our related online feature about the US propaganda leaflets used against the Japanese during World War II and learn about Bonner Frank Fellers, a mastermind behind the program: fanningtheflames.hoover.org/…
The prices you have to pay for rights to medieval images are one of the biggest scams of all time. Like yeah sure, take a thousand pounds from me for three six hundred year old pictures that you own because some slave owner donated the manuscripts to you. Cool and normal.

Honestly, there could/should be an entire conference on privacy and ethics devoted to these concerns around memory and forgetting when it comes to the digital afterlife of information, data, and archives in the context of institutions, libraries, and the law. #DigiPres21
