I am featured on NPR's wonderful visual/audio project on the Abidjan to Lagos corridor. I speak in the section on Lomé where I discuss the economic history of the Nana Benz. Many thanks to @ea_akin for the interview. Read and listen below! apps.npr.org/west-africa-tra…

"This is not a camp for armed movements.... this is the house of a displaced person -- an innocent person's blood. This is a hut. This is a cart. this is a home."
Today @ea_akin @NPR covers RSF's attacks on Zamzam IDP camp w/ @RefugeesIntl, @HRL_YaleSPH.

“Chad’s role in Sudan’s war has largely gone without mention. Even when it is discussed, Chad is portrayed as the benevolent host to thousands of Sudanese refugees. While that is true, Chad has become the UAE’s handmaiden in Sudan." @CSISAfrica

.@NesrineMalik’s long read about Wael al-Dahdouh is beautifully written and devastating. It’s testimony to steadfastness and bravery of Palestinan journalists and the Palestinian people who retain their humanity & dignity when the world denies them both.

The scorched earth policy of the RSF in Al-Jazira is de-populating one of the most fertile areas on earth. The area was famous for having the largest naturally irrigated farming scheme in the world. It has been gutted and ransacked, and now they are ethnically cleansing by force.

🚨 The Committee to Protect Journalists is aware of accusations made by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) against several journalists in Gaza accusing them of being members of militant groups. Israel has repeatedly made similar unproven claims without producing credible evidence. After killing Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Al Ghoul in July, the IDF previously produced a similar document, which contained contradictory information, showing that Al Ghoul, born in 1997, received a Hamas military ranking in 2007 – when he would have been 10 years old.

“One of the fastest ways to end the civil war in #Sudan is to hold outside actors accountable. The Stand Up for Sudan Act would prohibit #US arms sales to #UAE until the Biden administration can certify the UAE is no longer providing material support to the RSF. The UAE is one of the biggest buyers of US arms in the world – we have the leverage to send a clear message that funding and fueling this violence is unacceptable.”
