French Glass Eel Fisheries: Who’s Accountable?
Simon et al. (2022) reported glass eel mortality of 7.4% on average, peaking at 56.2% across 29 boats on five French rivers (2019–2020).
Were these fisheries certified by the Sustainable Eel Group?

17 TONNES of critically endangered European glass eels allocated for consumption & farming in France.
Millions of juveniles taken from a species in crisis for plates and profit.
How can European eels recover when France keeps taking their future?

This is a supertrawler. One of 26 that operate in British waters.
Together with the EU they scrape over 500,000 TONNES of fish from our sea a year. Leaving our fishermen on their knees and supermarkets importing the fish we eat from … China.
Brexit allowed us to fix this devastating mess but we didn’t. Both Labour and Tories say they have no definition of a supertrawler, so they can ban them.
How’s that sustainability goal working out?

Saw the same near me. Just a student doing a report. ‘Found anything?’ He opened his ice cream tub with a small toad inside. ‘Just this’ my adjacent garden is full of newts toads and frogs. Sad thing now it’s a small estate of £1M+ houses. Residents applying to cut down trees

GLASS EELS: DOUBLE STANDARD?
France catch 55 tonnes (22t for consumption, 33t for restocking) of Critically Endangered glass eels. The UK fishery is unauthorised.

I'm getting a sick and tired of people knocking electric cars when they clearly don't know what they're talking about.
I own two top-of-the-range EVs: a Jaguar and a Porsche.
The acceleration is incredible, the handling is superb, and they both look fantastic. Running costs are pennies, maintenance is practically non-existent, and neither has lost a penny in value since I bought ‘em.
Honestly, my only complaint is that if I take a corner a bit too enthusiastically, they fly off the track and disappear under the sofa.

Governments should stick to governing.
Let business professionals run businesses.
Why do politicians (especially ideological socialist politicians) always think the state can do everything better, when patently it can’t 🤦🏻

Labour all over. The first few months in power they bump the unions and their members wages up. Build more government. Raise taxes at every opportunity. Gaslight the British people. Then when they start getting found out they use diversion tactics to make us look the other way. Spend 80 % of their time bad mouthing and blaming the opposition and the other 20 % of their time thinking of ways they could add to the first 80 % of their time. There is a reason that they do not spend much time in power.

The French glass eel fishery opens very soon, where tens of millions of juvenile eels will be caught for consumption.
In the UK, removing or consuming glass eels is illegal. Same species, different rules.

This is what out of control looks like.
🚨 HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED IN BRITAIN IN THE LAST 24 HOURS AND LABOUR CLAIMS EVERYTHING IS UNDER CONTROL!
Take a look at the absolute carnage unfolding across our country over the past day alone.
*A former Chief of MI6 warned that Labour's Net Zero obsession has left Britain on an energy cliff edge and vulnerable to foreign sabotage.
*A Labour MP stood up in the House of Commons demanding our overstretched armed forces be dragged into overseas military strikes!
*An entire English village voted to declare independence from the United Kingdom after ministers forced a 1,200 man migrant camp onto their doorstep.
*The Transport Secretary was caught blowing 40,000 pounds of taxpayer cash on luxury Asian trips while British commuters suffer record train delays.
And after all of that chaos, Andy Burnham looks the British public in the eye and insists his government has everything firmly in hand?
This is not a functioning government. It is an out of touch political circus presiding over total national collapse!!

Heartbreaking news: Young Nottingham Forest supporter James Kerry has sadly lost their life after a brave battle with cancer. ❤️
James touched the hearts of football fans around the world through his courage, charity fundraising and special friendship with Morgan Gibbs-White. Even through everything he faced, he continued to inspire so many. A remarkable young boy who will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts are with James’ family, friends and everyone at Nottingham Forest. Rest in peace, James. ❤️🕊️

That’s not actually true On drinking water, the private era is clearly better. The Drinking Water Inspectorate, set up in 1990, reports overall compliance rising from about 98.9% in 1990 to 99.97% in recent years, including 99.97% in England in 2025. Failures on pesticides, lead, coliforms and metals fell sharply in the 1990s. Customers are far less likely to lose supply or suffer sewer flooding than in the early 1990s. Companies say they have spent about £160 billion on pipes, treatment works and sewers since 1989, roughly double the 1980s rate. England’s tap water now sits with the safest in international comparisons. That is the part people mean by “safe to drink,” and it did not get worse under private ownership.
Bathing water also improved for decades. Compliance with European standards was under 76% in 1989 and over 91% by 1999; non-compliance later fell to about 1%. Most designated beaches are now rated good or excellent.
The recent failure is sewage in rivers and the sea, not the tap. Storm overflows, built to stop sewage backing up into homes, now spill hundreds of thousands of times a year in England. Monitoring is almost complete in England, so the numbers are more visible than they used to be. Ecological status is poor: about 16% of English surface waters are classed good, against about 66% in Scotland and 30% in Wales. That gap is real, but it is not a clean public-versus-private test. Scotland is far less densely populated, farmed and industrialised, and until recently monitored only a minority of its overflows. Pollution incidents per kilometre of sewer are similar. The Independent Water Commission and the Office for Statistics Regulation have both warned against treating those headline percentages as like-for-like.
The post-2010 deterioration also sits on regulation and finance, not ownership alone. Ofwat let companies load up debt and pay large dividends while leakage and overflow investment lagged, and Environment Agency enforcement budgets were cut. Public ownership in the 1970s and 1980s had the opposite problem: chronic underinvestment because water lost out in the public spending round.
So the record is split. Water from the tap is safer now than when the industry was publicly owned. Rivers and coasts are cleaner than in 1989, but England’s sewage discharges in the last decade are a genuine failure of the privatised, lightly enforced model — not evidence that the old public system was safer to drink from.

The rest have been turning red over a few months. The plants were cuttings taken from the greenhouse toms.
