With increasing regularity, I'm reminded of what a cesspool of reactionary self-righteousness social media can be, how ill-considered people's opinions are, how bereft of historical context and impoverished of nuance. We can do better.

Truth. Would like other recommendations.
For my tax preparer friends, what tax preparation software do you utilize? Do not recommend @TaxACTSupport because their customer service is awful. #taxprep
Despite my best efforts to get vool stuff out of it, twitter is consistently tailoring content to show me things the least interesting to me. I'm taking a break. See you in a few months, maybe.

I’m pretty heartbroken that there isn’t more denunciation of this outward and blatant expression of bigotry and Islamophobia by a state party. IMO those who stood up against anti-Semitism a few weeks ago should also be calling out the Islamophobia here, too.

tfw you see someone who looks like someone else, and you have to keep staring at them until you recognize enough difference for them to no longer look like that other person.
I think about how much I want this Every. Friday. Night.
what if public libraries were open late every night and we could engage in public life there instead of having to choose between drinking at the bar and domestic isolation

What I love about this tweet is that it embodies something we desperately need right now: public imagination. When we focus on imagining and debating new possibilities of what we want to accomplish, instead of relentlessly fixating on limitations, we build the will to do more.

When you look up a word on google translate and you're not sure if that's the actual translation or you should just wait a bit longer.

Interesting take. I always preferred charging fixed amounts for contracts. But I hadn't really thought about it like this.
Replying to @housecor
“But hourly billing encourages developers to take as long as possible”. Hogwash. Hourly workers are incentivized to complete work quickly and at a high level of quality to justify their hourly rate. If they don’t, the customer will hire someone else.
It was always weird to find out the English names of people in my Chinese classes. It's weird now every time I find out the real name of a fellow capoeirista. I'm always living in worlds of multiple identities...
Yeah. This is how it works for sure.

If CP Time is about the culture, then include #NativeAmericans. @RumbleFilm is a documentary about the influence of #IndigenousPeople on American music. rumblethemovie.com/home @Trevornoah You haven't had any Native Americans as guests on your show yet. Start with @brettachapman

When you meet a person, and they remind you of someone else you know, it sure can be hard to not make assumptions about them being even more like the person you already know. Good reminder.
Good thread.
