One of the best parts of my job is doing fun science with my favourite people 🤩
Recently Tim and I have been collaborating on a re-appraisal of dazzle ship data from 1919 which he presented at @ecvp_ today ✨️
And as an extra bonus, here is a photo of the 'dazzling' duo 💛

Very fun to present this demo to colleagues, and to the general public! Thanks for the #SciComm opportunity @ecvp_
How do we perceive the achromatic (grayscale) color of objects in our environment? In our #ECVP2024 demo, we showed how slight variations in local and global surface properties, change our perception of two identical gray targets tremendously. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

I told @PAudurier it would be difficult to train a macaque to discriminate symmetrical vs. non-symmetrical wallpaper stimuli in < 3 months. She proved me wrong in 4 experiments #ECVP2024
Macaques accurately identify symmetry (corroborated by reaction times & pupillometry).

Just taken part in the roundtable discussion on Vision Science Climate and Biodiversity @ecvp_ where I highlighted some of what the @CollegeOptomUK is doing to support environmental #sustainability from its #research focus to #museyeum exhibits – at Aberdeen, Scotland

Heading off to Aberdeen tomorrow, excited about #ECVP2024. I'll be giving the "Spotlight in vision" keynote on using ANNs in visual neuroscience.
It's a 90 minute slot, so we can take a deep dive together. ✌️

Excited to get started at @ecvp_ after having a great time with the @optivist1 meeting and warming up to Aberdeen!
ALT Large letters spell 'Aberdeen' in front of a grass incline with stone stairs. At the top of the incline behind the sign, a statue of William Wallace and His Majesty's theatre can be seen. The floor is wet and the sky is grey (it is Aberdeen, after all)
