ABDUL EL-SAYED WINS Our movements just defeated hundreds of millions of dollars, MAGA, and pro-genocide groups. We showed that organizing, people power, and solidarity can make history. Abdul El-Sayed will be the next U.S. Senator for Michigan! @AbdulElSayed has remained clear throughout this race: the U.S. must stop funding and arming Israeli genocide and apartheid. And he will go to D.C. to govern on a mandate of fighting for working families and to keep money in our communities - not fund genocide and war abroad. The tides are shifting. Stop Arming Israel. Free Palestine.

One of my favorite clients is an Enlightened Mayor of a small Midwestern city. He’s battling for reduced parking so urban infill can pencil. When people worry the walk from street parking or off-site lot will feel too far, he overlays a Walmart site plan on the project. The distance from the unit to the off-site parking is shorter than the walk from the Walmart checkout to a mid-lot parking space. And that perspective is very powerful for people to see. Visuals are important!!

Yes. Cities need to be brave and just start pushing car-light neighborhoods and make it easy to build small mixed-use apartment buildings, the time-tested path to walkability

The entire Democratic Party owes a massive debt of gratitude to Zohran Mamdani. Before his rapid rise, the party was largely rudderless, suffering from a loss of direction, momentum, and self-confidence. By drifting away from the working class, the party naturally saw voters walk away in response. Mamdani single-handedly corrected the course, bringing vital energy, ideological clarity, and an authentic connection back to the very people who had been left behind. Without his influence, the party’s current standing would look very different.

What we call Russia likes to trace its roots to the 800s, but that story begins in Kyiv, not Moscow. Moscow only became a power in the 1300s, and the Russia we know today has only been an independent state since 1991. In all that time, it has managed roughly eight years of what you could call a normal relationship with Europe, a brief window after the Wall came down. Today it has chosen a different road once again. While Europe was living through the Renaissance, humanism and the slow birth of democracy, Russia spent nearly 300 years under the Mongols, and that is where its political culture was forged. The Khan ruled by terror and tribute, and the princes of Moscow rose to power by becoming his tax collectors, squeezing their own people and skimming off the top. Power meant plunder, and the only question was who got to do the plundering. Land, property and life itself belonged to the ruler, not to the people, so no one ever learned that rights, contracts or human dignity were things worth defending. What you learned instead was to grovel before anyone above you and crush anyone below you, to lie to the authorities because the truth got you killed, and to steal because everything would be stolen from you anyway. When the Mongols finally left, Moscow simply kept the system and called it the Tsardom. Theft, corruption and contempt for human life were never bugs in Russia. They were the operating system. Today, Ukraine has given them their answer.
