None of this is sufficient to justify the scale of the investment into Cohere.
Especially when that financing represents an incredible opportunity cost.
To all these cynics dunking on the @cohere round;
Canada has invested in private entities for years. The CDC has done it for decades successfully in mining, petrochemicals and pharma (TMC pipeline and many others).
This is a regular practice in defense and military. AI is at least as important.
It's not picking a winner. It's co-investment with the best company in the world @nvidia.
Just celebrate great Canadian entrepreneurs doing something ambitious or go back to bed.
