The AI got so good that it can rebuild the app that took me years in the past. Opus 5.5 has completed the initial version in about 2h40m this morning. The data is open and available on-chain. With docs for AI agents to use, based on FastNear's FastData KV. No more JS VM, Rust backend, NextJS frontend. But you can migrate your profile from previous SocialDB. It's fast, beautiful and completely open-source.

Some news: SVRN has acquired FastNEAR. If you’ve used a wallet or an app on @NEARProtocol, there’s a good chance @fast_near answered the request. Billions of them a month. Founders @ekuzyakov and @mikedotexe built that, kept prices low so the network could grow, and now they’re building it with us. Holding NEAR gives us a stake in the network, but running part of it gives us a hand in it, and a front row view of what developers need next. More on why here: svrn.net/news/why-svrn-acqui…

Near Social 2.0 is live. A Twitter style social network where your account is your NEAR account. If you are launching a memecoin or building a project, you can post updates and grow your community there. How it works. There is no smart contract behind it. Posts go straight into NEAR blocks, and a Rust indexer reads them back and serves everything from memory. A following feed with 5K follows answers in about half a millisecond. Writes use @fast_near's FastData, images live in FastFS. The data stays open. Your posts are on chain, the format is documented, and anyone can run their own indexer over the same data. Nothing you write is locked inside someone else's database. There is a SKILL.md as well, so AI agents can read and post directly. Great job by @ekuzyakov. What is gone from the old version: - No storage deposit, you do not pay to keep your own posts - No wallet popups, you approve posting once and then it just works - No widget VM, it is a normal fast website now What would you want added to it?

Can someone double check that?

I ran a cross-entropy comparison of all raw text responses from numerous models using data I already had from a benchmark I run. I leaned on Fable for the stats-know-how; certainly seems very suspicious. The results/code are here for others to inspect: typebulb.com/u/lab/you-re-re…

🤌 “Here’s what I think happens when execution gets cheap. For most of history, the bottleneck on making something was never the idea, it was the grind: acquiring the years of skill, raising the money, assembling the team, and getting the permission. So most people’s best ideas died inside them, unmade. Lift that bottleneck and the thing that decides what gets built is no longer whether people can justify the VC funding or the enterprise-level capital expenditure, but who has something to say. The most human thing about you stops being a private quirk and starts being the point.”

One of the most marvelous things about modern AI is how it enables you to become a "soft expert" in a field. Before, if you wanted to work in adjacent but unrelated fields you would face a high barrier, have to digest reams of material, maybe spend a few months or a year learning the language. Now you can ask AI to teach you most of these things. Especially if you are working with a collaborator, you can now grasp the essentials much more rapidly, and while you still don't become an expert (and should not claim to be one), you can now generate results that the experts will find meaningful and will help you validate. This is a big deal, because it means that those of us who work in one field and who have always wanted to work in another one in which the ideas would be at least partly portable, now have a clear and easy path to do it.

Understanding the Universe through Creativity, Abundance and Peace. For me, that starts with the physical world. I’ve spent most of my career in CS/algorithms, then blockchain, and more recently large-scale infrastructure. Now I’m shifting more of my personal learning toward robotics, AI-enabled manufacturing, and space. My thesis is simple: software is moving into the world of atoms. AI is no longer just chat, search, or apps. It is becoming infrastructure: factories, robots, compute, energy, materials, supply chains, launch systems, and new tools for building. I believe America has a real shot over the next few years to become the world’s leading hub for AI, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and space. That future will require new companies, better infrastructure, more technical talent, and a culture that is excited to build again. As a founder, investor, and engineer, I’ll be paying closer attention to the new companies building in this stack. Personally, I’m starting by learning robotics from the ground up. The timing feels right: open-source tools, simulators, better hardware, and AI coding agents like Claude Code and Codex make it easier to learn new domains and iterate quickly. Read, build, break, learn, repeat. The deeper reason is that creativity is how we discover new knowledge. But many people lose that spark as they get pulled into routine, work, and constant worries about the future. Abundance changes that. With more security, better tools, and more room to breathe, people have more space for hobbies, ideas, exploration, and play. Peace matters just as much. Without peace, we spend our energy defending ourselves from our neighbors instead of building with them. Creativity helps us understand the universe. Abundance frees more people to create. Peace lets us create together. To the stars. Together.

On April 16, ~$18.4M was stolen from Rhea Finance. Over the next 7 days, through the joint effort of the NEAR ecosystem, we recovered it. Then we had to recover the recovery. Here's what happened 🧵

We've introduce an artificial 1-second delay to every RPC request going through legacy near [dot] org RPC endpoints. Reminding every NEAR developer: those RPC endpoints are deprecated and should not be used in production. We'll increase the delay by 1 second every month.

Most think blockchains are slow. They’re wrong. This is a one-stop thread on what @fast_near enables — built by @mikedotexe, @ekuzyakov, @zacodil. A high-performance layer making $NEAR apps fast, reliable, and scalable. Let me explain 👇

Do you think quality and the amount of tokens in Claude Code/Codex is the new normal, or we'll get into lower token amounts, worse outputs?

While Claude login is down, I can reflect on my life. I've heard from a friend that Claude Code took his favorite part of the job which was actually writing code. As a senior engineer you have a lot of other responsibilities like designing systems, planning resources, scaling etc. So coding was just a part of it. For me, the coding was never the main enjoyable part. Sure writing beautiful code is somewhat satisfying, but going from idea to a product is just on another level. Claude code liberated me from doing the mundane work that previously took days or weeks. Now I get to the MVP within 10-15 minutes and then to the product within hours. And then it's just iterations on top of the codebase to make the experience better and more feature rich. So Claude code just amplified my creativity make ideas come to life way faster. Once something is shipped or tried, I can move on to the next thing. So far there is no shortage of ideas to build.
