FIN. 🇻🇪

Appreciate the positive framing and your visits. Paraguay’s model—optimizing Itaipú hydro into Tier 1 compute today and the path to Tier 3 AI tomorrow—is a practical blueprint others can study and adapt.
HIVE has invested $250M+ there, runs 300 MW now, created 300+ jobs, and is building the electrical and human infrastructure for the next stage. Engineers learning from one another is how the region turns abundant clean energy into abundance. Transform Ing hydro electrons into compute to export to US in addition to food🇻🇪🤝🇵🇾

Paraguay 🇵🇾 has 17 GW of installed generation capacity across the Itaipú and Yacyretá dams.
Venezuela 🇻🇪 has 17.5 GW between our Guri, Tocoma, Caruachi and Macagua dams.
Paraguay built a blueprint to attract AI data centers that Venezuela will follow!
I’m glad to announce that @CrusoeAI is partnering with Araico to utilize excess clean, reliable and 100% renewable hydroelectric power to build cutting AI datacenter infrastructure in Paraguay. Supported by the U.S. government and Paraguayan government, this is a great opportunity to create value for the people of Paraguay by adding value to their existing resources, and an exciting new chapter of Crusoe’s energy-first international expansion strategy.
We’re partnering with ARAICO to build AI infrastructure in Paraguay, powered by the Itaipú Dam, our first expansion into Latin America: crusoe.ai/resources/newsroom…

🇪🇺🇻🇪🎙️ | @MartinRodRodr on the future of Venezuela’s oil industry at the Rebuilding Venezuela Summit in the European Parliament:
“I want to talk about 2 institutional proposals that I think could make our oil sector conducive to successful development.
The first is to liberalize our energy industry, and by liberalize, I mean truly liberalize our energy industry. Allow the animal spirits of international oil companies, whether supermajors or wildcatters, to come into the country and do what they know how to do.
The second, and perhaps even more important, is: how do we manage the wealth that is generated by these national oil companies? Venezuela has a long history of mismanaging the oil rent, and there’s a lot of academic literature on the pernicious effects that discretion in the management of oil revenues has on countries’ institutions, so I think we need to tackle these two issues together.”

🇻🇪🇪🇺🎙️ | @elsultanbitcoin on Venezuela’s electricity crisis at the Rebuilding Venezuela Summit in the European Parliament:
“By the year 2000, Venezuela had the highest electrical consumption per capita of Latin America. The average Venezuelan consumed 2,500 kilowatt-hours a year. Today, the average Venezuelan consumes less than 40 kilowatt-hours a year.
This is the result of years of underinvestment and mismanagement by putting out of political privilege instead of technical and science people to operate the national electrical system and nationalizing the generation, the distribution and the transmission of the electrical system in Venezuela.
Today Venezuela has an installed generation capacity of 34 gigawatts, but we’re roughly producing 13. And we’re demanding 16. That is what causes the blackouts and the rationing.”
Itaipú is to Paraguay what Guri, and Caruachi together are to Venezuela 🇻🇪
Same installed capacity, same region, but closer to the U.S. and with lots of energy and gas.
Paraguay built 900 MW of Tier I data centers, before Araico built AI compute.
Venezuela will follow!
The power of water is awesome. Paraguay and Brazil harnessed the power of the mighty Paraná River at the Itaipú Dam, one of the world’s engineering marvels. This project was only a dream when I lived in Paraguay as a boy in the 1970s, and it was a true joy to visit the completed project now as US Deputy Secretary of State.
And it was even better to visit with Paraguayan President @SantiPenap to announce that US investors have signed a deal to build a data center nearby drawing on the abundant hydroelectric energy. This deal has the potential to be the largest foreign private investment in Paraguay’s history and thus to deepen the longstanding ties between our countries. 🇺🇸🤝🇵🇾
