This is the speech I gave in the European Parliament on the coming economic collapse.
Central banks' policy of zero percent interest rates has created the largest bubble in human history. When it bursts it will be worse than 1929.

It was an honour giving a keynote at the Open University last week. I talked about how AI can be integrated into education, for personalised tutors and other benefits and how AI can extend education to the developing world. The OU is one of the best institutions in the world
On Thursday I gave a talk at the IEA think tank in Westminster on machine consciousness; I've given several lectures on this recently, at the RAND Corporation and some universities. It's one of the most fascinating areas of philosophy, science and policy making. Thanks to the IEA

Great to be at @MaxRangeley and Dr Tsvetelina van Benthem's talk on The Artificial Intelligence Revolution at @iealondon tonight!
The Rebuilding Venezuela Summit in the European Parliament today was excellent. I gave a talk on how Venezuela can embrace emerging technologies in its reform process, to become the next Singapore.
I arrived in Brussels last night - today I had a meeting in the European Parliament for a book we're working on, on economics. Tomorrow I'm taking part in a panel discussion in the European Parliament on rebuilding Venezuela. There is a lot happening in Latin America right now!
I've got three speeches in three days coming up this week:
- On Tuesday I'm giving a speech in the European Parliament on the situation in Venezuela
- On Wednesday I'm giving the keynote speech at the Open University.
- On Thursday at the Institute of Economic Affairs on AI
Next spring I'm going to renovate the roof garden on my house, and do something truly unique - it's 100 metres square, so I can build something bold.
My house is right by the sea, and from my roof I can see Cornwall over the other side of the water, which adds a nice touch.

🤔Fantastic interview with @MaxRangeley and Lord Fairfax from @CityAM on why AI could cause mass disruption to the UK labour market.

Earlier this year I gave this speech in Florence on AI, culture and the lessons of the Italian Renaissance.
Will we enter a new age of polymaths, science and beautiful architecture (or just endless AI slop)?

Last month I gave this talk at Cambridge University's Centre for the Study of Existential Risk, talking through AI and robotics for the military, and the prospect of machine consciousness. The whole event was very well organised by CSER

This summer I gave this speech on unidentified anomalous phenomena at the Organization of American States in Panama, talking the topic through from the perspective of evidence-based policy. Thanks to USA House for organising the excellent discussion.

On Thursday I gave a talk at Cambridge University on machine consciousness - will artificial intelligence become conscious, and what would this mean for humanity? Thanks to the IEA and ASI think tanks for organising such an excellent event.

It was a privilege to shape this project alongside them.👨⚕️
Earlier this year I did the Krav Maga instructor course in London - I'm now looking forward to doing MMA as well for the first time in years. Krav Maga and MMA are the best blend in martial arts.
The House of Collections museum displays some of the best contemporary Icelandic art, and is well worth visiting if you get a chance to go to this beautiful country. Icelandic art is as much shaped by the national geography as the sagas and the rest of the culture.
The Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague has some of the most famous works by the Dutch Masters (including Vermeer, Rembrandt, Hals, Steen, and Rubens), as well as numerous other works; it's one of my favourite smaller museums.
The "selfie" is with Rembrandt's painting of Homer.

Last week I gave a two hour seminar at Vrije University in Amsterdam on AI, robotics and the future of geopolitics and war. The whole event was very interesting, with specialists from around Europe, from Oxford University to the Netherlands to Ukraine.
