One of the most responsible things an expert, advocate, or policymaker can do on the Uyghur issue is to acknowledge that they do not have all the answers and cannot single-handedly resolve the Uyghur crisis. They must avoid offering false hope to Uyghurs and their supporters around the world, only to leave them feeling betrayed, misled, and ultimately discouraged from taking further action.
Honesty, without offering false hope, is the first step toward meaningful progress in human rights.

11 of the 19 participants were subsequently given 5-year prison terms, with the others given non-custodial terms. Haven't done a polish of the English-language verdict yet, but it reads pretty dystopian.
